What are you talking about racist flyers in the Church?
That is not a fair statement to make.
Where did you hear that?
What type of racism or are you just looking for an argument?
It is you who is being the racist.

What have you heard?

The church has become an easy target, perhaps deservedly so but just coming out with crude unjustified statements is not a topic for discussion.
The church is run by people, some do very good work world wide others a more flawed and drag down the name of the church.

Yeah, I heard about this guy, I can't remember exactly but the church did not approve his comments, he seems to have his own interests at heart.
But you know what i mean wildrover, people can't just attack something like in this thread, it is no good, half baked slander.

I saw it last night on the news. A child had come home from Church having been giving a leaflet that had a cartoon of a black child on it who appeared to be saying "shame that enlightenment doesn't work on skin colour too" or something similar.

The priest at the church declined to be interviewed.

I hadn,t realised it was not backed by the church...I am told its got a huge following in Poland....Everyone is entitled to an opinion , but if this guy is promoting racism on the radio surely he is breaking the law , and its not doing the reputation of the church a lot of good....does the church still accept him as a priest...?

Yes. They interviewed a few people such as some other priest and a black guy living in Poland about racism etc.. in general too. What surprised me was that they had a woman saying she didn't think that black people would find it offensive because they liked to try and lighten their skin colour.

Actually I just found the story:

http://miasta.gazeta.pl/katowice/1,35063,5912734,_Szkoda__ze_modlitwa_ nie_rozjasnia_skory_.html

The flyer had printed on it "szkoda że modlitwa nie rozjaśnia skóry" - shame that prayer doesn't [en]lighten skin

I posted the topic. My name is Sam and let me say what i heard. A paper was distributed in church and on the paper it had something like this...A priest told a black child to pray to God, so God could wash him clean and make him white...

correct me, if i miss interpreted this

This is totally racist. Why should such person be a priest in the first place?

Dont polish authority fight racism, cant he be arrested and charged for racist comments, cant the radio station be sanctioned for promoting such acts?

What do you expect from people who get such papers and begin to develop racist views?

This is disturbing, and adter hearing this today, I began to develop love-lost(i dont want to write HATE, but this is how i feel) against the catholic church. It really hurts me..

That is shocking in this day and age.
I am sure this is not a true representative of the church.
This question might be naive but do you think the priest was being naive or malicious?
Reminds me of the gollywogs when i was a kid.

Oh don,t get me going on that.....i used to collect the little gollywogs on the jam jars in order to get my gollywog badge...i had no idea of course what a gollywog was , or that it was supposed to be a representation of a black person....Were black people actually offended by these things , or was it white people being over protective that got them banned....?

I doubt malicious, probably just naive or stupid. But there was no apology for it (at least that I saw on the news). In the article I linked to it says that the boss of the publication in question said it was a mistake and that they had "no bad intentions".

Me neither, we had delicious gollywog ice creams.
I don't think there was any ill malice behind it, although all kids are stupid or naive or whatever, which might be the same in this case but I rather not justify such an obviously stupid thing.
A big thing to me is ill malice.

I don't know, Nody and bigears used to sleep in the same bed, that got banned too, in this P.C. crazed world who knows.
But that is a bit much

Think about the process before an article gets printed or published. Someone or some people knew that something refering to other people colour is racism...this is clear. Now if they intended to pass accross a differnet message, what message in the world would fit a picture where a black boy prays and it message attached to the picture says "unfortunately". There is no justification to such acts.

Good point, the fact that there is not a full blown apology is strange.

I met a real nice guy in Africa named Ali, he converted to Islam.
During apartheid in south Africa, in the mornings they had to say the "our father" prayer.
Only because he was black he could not say "OUR father" but "THE father" because blacks were forsaken by God.
A one word change means a huge amount and we all know about apartheid in South Africa, I would rather not try to justify it.

I bet Big ears got binned too...i mean pointing out his disability would be very naughty...Just before i left the UK they were about to try and stop people calling black binliners this name...you were supposed to call em non white bin liners...Just about the stupidist thing i ever heard....I never met a black person who found the word black offensive...most of em were proud to be black...the world has gone mad....!

For me it was the road sign "Slow children" was changed because it offended slow children.

But it is an overtly negative poster, even if the priest is a half wit (which is more than likely)

It could be BS but I was told that slow children was changed to caution children.
And since then i have not seen a slow children sign.
Although is the other one not un-PC against cautious children?

What do we call them now....'not fast children'? If someone has such a fragile ego that being called 'physically or mentally challenged' instead of 'physically or mentally disabled' fills them with joy then I pity them. In fact I don't think most of the people who these labels fit too are offended...I think it is the ultra PC crowd who take it upon themselves to be offended for everyone else all the time. I have a very close black friend and he says that white people get way more offended about so called offenses to blacks than blacks do...

I must also add here that young people are the strongest group of people that can create change in a country. Whether is the racist views of people or the political system. Yound people should demand answers from the govt as to whether they are really fighting racism or corruption. This is most possible in Poland, cos the rest of the EU can support such causes. I expect that young educated people should fight racism from such bodies like the radio maria, the priest and other negative organisation. If you dont, who will...lech kaczynski?

I am sure the 'caution children' will now be offended thus requiring another change.

There were "deaf children playing" and "blind children playing" signs in my childhood neighborhood....I am sure now they are bothering someone and have been changed to 'hearing impaired', 'sound reception and processing limited' or some other such BS>

There is a huge market in hte USA amongst Afros for skin lighteners and hair straighteners. Are those who advertise, sell and buy such products racists?
