And no matter how many times it is advised, it still isn't true. The tap water here is perfectly safe to drink.

Tastes vile, but I've never heard of anyone getting ill from drinking it. To be honest, it's no worse than the water from Essex or other parts of England where the water is heavily treated.

How many people die each year on Polish roads - does anybody know what the stats are?

Oh my I remember allways when I am at my dad's work. Allways some cars crashing becaouse it's a cross. when you hear the iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii from the halting then everyone Oooooooo! Then it's a crash or not. If not then everyone ooooh. But if it is then OH YEAH!
Sons of ******* they deserve a crash in a while :D (Ofcourse if we hear that someone died later we all feel sorry for her/him.

1. Worst thing ever! When I was born in Norway I got my personal number and final. While in Poland I don't get in while I am born and I got to get loads of numbers for everything and nothing!

no kidding.

warrior syndrome, full moon, bitterness, lack of whatever with whomever, low vibrations, lack of exercise, poor diet, too much alcohol, not enough alcohol, the reasons vary.

Attitude is important.

I call it practicing human instincts: who knows.

it would be interesting to find out why, although I am not sure if all the Eastern block is like that.

I've traveled a bit in eastern europe, and yeah they are a bit like that, i remember my bulgarian friends were always telling to their female peers, "i cant cook, you are the woman go to the kitchen" the girls just did it. if you do that to a dutch girl, she would smack the hell out of you, no kidding.

But let's not generalize many might be,,but maybe others are not, we just have to meet them yet...

Oh yes, i saw many posts on the roads. I went to the sea the other day rode about 400 km and i swear i counted over 100 crosses on just one road that proves the roads are crap in poland !! Also sometimes when my mates leave warsaw to get 100 km outside it can take from 2 hr to 3 hr's that crazy !! The roads are bollocks here ! They think they so good in building and all that but the roads like crap !

The lack of good queue etiquette, airport passport control in particular.

I could write a 100 things which **** me off here :)
But I won't do that ;)
To make a long story short(er)....
People care soooo ******* TOO much about what other people will think.. or at least that's how they act aaaalll the time... You can't be single when you're 30, you can't date a black guy, you can't have flashy hair or funny clothes and especially you CAN'T BE GAY! Because what will the neighbours think? The whole family will abandon you! blabla!
And than.. When you walk on the street, try to cross the street or bike through this agressive drivers, when you go to the shop and the lady in the shop puts all her hate and unhappiness in her 'DO WIDZENIA'.... Than it seems that nobody gives a **** about what other people think.
I don't get it. Living here for almost two years and still don't get it!
I'm moving out in a few months. I have enough of it.
Poland is beautiful and I met a lot of nice people over here, but jesus...!
LOOOOONG way to go!
Cheers

Wow, that was a good and perceptive post, Loesje. I agree that Poland is beautiful and has many nice people but the hatred is instilled. I call what you said the 'do widzenia na odpierdo* się'. It's downright nasty!

Yeah, the indifference is incredible at times. I sometimes use a controversial statement to spark off discussions in class. Otherwise, they just shrug and don't care. When in Gliwice.....LOL

I'd be at my wits end if I let it get to me but I don't. I miss my family, they are much more alive.

That really is a horrible number. There's a direct correlation with stress. I wish people wouldn't treat life so much like a battle. Relax and let things flow, take it in your stride and don't endanger the lives of others.

Isn't it just?

Yet the Polish state seems happy to allow it to continue - when they could cut the death rate dramatically by putting unmarked police cars out there with cameras. A few instant-bans handed out for dangerous driving (let's say - 7 days in the first instance) would soon change driving habits.

The saddest thing of all in Poland is that people take risks with small children in the car and a wife on top.

Having said this - our sport of 'let's annoy as many 40 year old idiotic male drivers as possible' seems to be great fun :D

I was disappointed by the glaring lack of cameras on the way back from Warsaw, terrain which should have been prime pickings for catching people out. Unmanned police cars need to be the norm in some parts.

I am of the same opinion
