I had a family wedding to go to in Krakow - so went by train. Dirt cheap.
Outward, a dodgy train got my wife and I there in 3 hours for about 100zl. RTN was by an intercity train (got delayed - 3.5 hours) and cost us even less.

Can't understand how - smells like corruption on the rails. Can't go on at these prices for long.

You should explain what kind of tariff it was. I went to Kraków by train about three months ago and I paid 100 zł each way.

I travel between Krakow and Warsaw each week and the cost of a second class intercity ticket costs 108PLN each way. However, I understand that for each journey there are a handful of reduced price tickets available - about 50PLN. I've only been fortunate enough to get these tickets about 2-3 times in the last year so it could be that you had one of these.

Looks like the OP took a TLK. They are indeed very cheap but there are some drawbacks, true :)

The old TLK service was quite good, but since they changed it - it's very hit or miss. But then again, PKP IC don't want to run most of them anyway.

Same with InterRegio - it can be very hit or miss. Really, any train lower than EIC is a bit of a lottery - though certain routes can be better than others.

I can't say anything positive for IR.... Low quality old trains, mega dirty and normally delayed.

But i also use TKL quite often and have never had a real problem, the trains aren't the cleanest, but quite quiet, well heated in the winter, generally on time and nicely priced.

TKL from Głogów (about 50km above Wroclaw) through Wroclaw, onto Krakow somthing like 55zl cool :)

I guess he refers to InterRegio. It's extremely cheap, but the comfort is not good. You get what you pay for. For short trips it's no problem.

InterRegio Wawa-Krakow is 40 zl in 2nd class (bilet normalny). It takes 3:15 h.
