One more question. While my husband says polish weather is the best one in the world ;) with four seasons, beach in the summer, snowboard in the winter and so on, many polish friends I have, said weather in Poland is the worst I can get and they couldn`t see themselves living in that kind of winter anymore. I`ve been in Poland myself few times... winter, spring, summer and autumn but can`t get to a conclusion really...
How is it???

There is not too much sun overall so for a Brazilian it would be difficult to cope, however, an artificial sunlight lamp in the winter should solve the problem:)

Honey if you have lived in the UK then Poland will be wonderful, Ive been in both the winter and the summer...

summer was hot and sunny
winter wasnt too bad it doesnt seem to be as windy as it is here (UK) so its not as "biting" cold and it doesnt rain as much :)

As a brazilian I do enjoy hot sunny weather but not 365 days per year. When I was a child I used to look forward to going to Argentine to enjoy a bit of crispy temperatures. What I`m afraid of is how long is this winter in Poland. Can I say Poland is 50% cold and 50% hot? I don`t mind cold weather, but a short one :)
thanks for the answers guys

It's vary very much from year to year. This year we hardly had any winter but 2 years ago It was very cold and long.

@ Brazilii:
It's usually a case of 5 months snow from November till March. Nearly half a year of the accursed white stuff. Reincarnate as a penguin is my advice.

Weather is good. Not as many grey days as in the UK. Proper snow in the winter, spring brings a welcome relief from the cold, summer is hot, autumn feels shorter than in the UK - it gets cold quickly.

climate seems good to me.

Poles in Ireland reckon that the winter here is worse than in Poland - found this strange as it rarely goes below about -2 or -3C but they say that because of the damp they feel colder here than the -25C in Poland.

With that in mind, and considering I quite like the Irish climate (rain and all, but it would be better if there was less of it) the Polish climate does sound good, particularly with the very distinct seasons. This isn't unusual in some areas of the US too.

I live in Canada and the whole world thinks we live in igloos. In fact Poland's weather is very comparable to where I live in southern Ontario. The weather in Poland gets cold around mid-November and may last until April. Just like in Canada. Overall I think central Europe has much better weather than the British Isles.

I dunno about beach in the summer, i don't think it gets hot enough on the Baltic coast, it's all a matter of preference most Poles like cool or cold weather, and seeing the four seasons is a good thing.

Three very distinct seasons in Poland:

Freezing cold
Not too cold
Freezing cold
God awful cold

Actually because of the geography, the climate tends to be pretty similar. Every once in while you have low pressure systems that just sit over half of the country, but for the most part the weather doesn't vary a whole lot from region to region. I'd wager a guess and say that 95% of Poland sits no more than 300m MSL, so no big variations based on altitude either.

As Aleksander Solszenitzyn once said: we have twelve months winter, and all the rest is summer! Yipee. Welcome to Poland.

haven't been to Poland in a few years maybe weather has changed, last time i was in the winter time and it was bitterly cold, -20 Celsius, even colder during the night. Summers of 95' and 96' were very hot, at least a month and a half straight hot dry weather, remember all the grass turning light yellow from the heat and sun.

Without a doubt. It was 14c today!

I love the way that it doesn't rain constantly here.
