McDonald's certainly is packed when I walk by it, but most of my students love to mock McD's and snicker about the American diet.

Im guessing she lived there.

Even if she did, it doesn't mean that she knows everything about everyone and everything. I'm Polish and I wouldn't dare to make such assumptions since I might have met a few people behaving in a certain way, but it doesn't mean that whole nation behaves like this.

Thankfully I escaped. I feel alive once again :))

I'm also glad you did :)

he problem I have is, why go eat at a decent place when I can eat a crappy place and save 25%.

or they go to this decent one and order just a beer that last for 2 hours.

I take Polki to Greek restaurants and they like them, however they are not grateful like Czech girls. It is always better to take a Polka to a polish restaurant to feel at home among Polaci, smoke and disco polo.It is also much cheaper.

darling, everyone is perfectly aware that there are thousands of really great polish people, but if we stop making assumptions about the majority that actually shapes the general country image we are better opening the phonebook of warsawa and discussing every person separately.

People make assumptions about the English and England all the time after living here for a few months...Or even not having lived here at all....It's all based on experience or what they have heard - personally I couldnt care less...

Isnt that just being cheap?

Like someone said above...trying to keep others from making the same mistakes ;)

All expats wish they had known a lot of things and how to deal with them beforehand. It can save you a ton of grief.

I am needed here more than anywhere else. E.g., my Polish students need me.

It's not only the most beautiful piece of land in the world, but the traditions go back thousands of years; and the women- as you stated! Why do you think everyone around us wants this land?

You are comparing California to Poland?? HAHAHAHAHAHA. I know lots of Poles who would love to live in CA but not any Californians who would rather live in Poland. That says it all.

You now know one. Or at least know of one.
After 40 years in California I moved to Poland. It's hard to convince Poles that years consisting of 50 weeks of warm sunny weather and two weeks of downpour get boring after a while, but it's true. And I'm living in a house with more history than anything in California not made of mud bricks that cost me about what a nice one car garage would in CA. Not a house with a one car garage, just the garage.

Pull the other one! You haven't travelled much, have you?

Considering that the women of several neighbouring countries are even better looking, it's more likely to be the coal reserves and pork meat products :D

Uhh, it was a joke.....

- you stop trying to explain to people that San Francisco is not very close to San Diego and just say "No, I don't think I remember meeting your cousin."
- you realize that "Nie, dziękuje." never works at the dinner table.
- you say "Herbatka" not because you want tea, but because you don't want to hear the list of all possible drinks your host can provide.
- you pepper your English with Polish words because the Polish words fit better what you're trying to say.
- you laugh when someone mentions the A2.

You must be have been very hurt to go out in the world and find out that everybody thinks your beloved country is a piece of ****. I guess thats why you come here to ***** about Poland, which is a poor, screwed over country trying to recover form hundreds of years of oppression. Hope it makes you feel good.

BTW, if you good to any other country you will find they have a very similar opinion about the USA.

ha! you say that as if it would surprise me, or have any effect on me whatsoever. dude, i could go on and on with the best of them as far as $hitting on the USA, the place is full of problems and at least half the people here are just out of their minds......if you're gonna play the "I know where to hit the over-patriotic American where it really counts" card, look for another one in the deck, dude.

Its more of a 'what sort of sad **** spends his time slagging off a poor country because its poor' card.

the minute you start talking like it is in fact a poor country, that their salaries will not quadruple in 7 years, and any other delusional bull$hit you know is not true about the place stops spewing from you......my tune will surely change. then maybe we can start ripping on my country? might be fun, eh?

Your tune consists on one note - no, never, not. Not one piece of evidence to back up your comments except sad, miserable whining.

Yes, and ON that A4 is one of the aforementioned McDonald's. And what about it? THEY CHARGE YOU FOR KETCHUP PACKETS! THEY. CHARGE. YOU! Biggest travesty of Poland. And until you get to Katowice (which has a rather neat two-storied KFC), there's not a lotta options for roadside dining. Who charges for little packets of ketchup? Who DOES that? I'm so used to being charged to use the bathroom in Polish McDonald's that I get hungry for french fries every time my bladder is full, but to charge me for ketchup?! The shame!
