Hi,

I looked into this a while ago with little result, but I figured I'd try again.
I'm trying to determine where my great-grandparents came from, and was wondering if my last name, Fabiszewski, may give a clue to where in Poland my family is from.
I have little documentation from my family, other than a 1920 census from Pittsburgh that says my great-grandfather arrived in the U.S. around 1900.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thread attached on merging:
Konin and Fabiszewski

Hi,

I've been trying to find my family origin, and found some documents that point to Konin, Poland as my family's home town.
Where can I find more info on my last name, Fabiszewski, and its association with the city of Konin?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

If you go to moikrewni.pl and go to the bottom of the page you will find Mapa Nazwisk. Click on that and you will get a surname mapping program. Type in your surname. According to the database there are 834 people in Poland with that surname in a relatively recent census. You will have to find Konin on a separate map and compare to where it is on the generated map. There are 12 places that have the Konin as place names in Poland. you can see that on mapa.szukacz.pl type Konin in the box under Miejscowość (top right) (when you get to the page that loads automatically). You can zoom in to any one of them. You'll have to compare maps.
