How are you finding life in the UK? Do you plan to return to Poland in the near future or do you plan to stay? I know alot that are heading back but I also know a few that are considering staying permanently. One couple has just given birth here and are starting a family.

"How are you finding life in the UK?"

Good. Free housing, free education, free NHS, free School dinners etc etc

"Do you plan to return to Poland in the near future"

No. It's the land of milk and honey here innit ?

"One couple has just given birth here "

Just one , er think there could be a few more than that.

So Arise_St_George what's it to you ? BNP ? Journalist, let's knock the Polish people........my replies above were tongue in cheek before you go sounding off :)

I'm just curious. Random question but also interested as to how many Poles actually DO stick it out here. If the borders remain open for non-eu countries then I welcome Poles with open arms into the UK. I would personal favour European immigration to Asian immigration as our culture is more or less the same. I go out drinking with Poles and a Czech quite regularly, really friendly people although I have met a few arrogant gits.

By the way mate, Poland is a member of the EU.

With a nickname as you have posted with, it only makes me feel you have somewhere, an axe to grind ? I could be wrong of course, but come on, St. George. LOL hahaha !

I don't get what you mean. St George is England's patron Saint.

Turkey's continent is both Europe and Asia. I don't care for other countries. St. George is England's Patron Saint. Our flag has the cross of Saint George. I use the symbol of Saint George for Nationalistic reasons.

Arise_St_George will have to change his nickname otherwise we shall just see him as being 'multicultural' :)

I don't have a patron saint. I don't need one.
Arise_St_George wrote:

No. His mother and father probably did that.

edit: His father died when he was very young, so St. George was really brought up by a single mum!

Of course they're scum. Bombing innocent people, children, babies, men and women and even the elderly. MURDERED them all for "Independence." If that isn't scum then God knows what is.

You're justifying killing innocent people?? The sight of maimed, blood-soaked, innocent people who were in wrong place at the wrong time. People who knew nothing about their "struggle" and were no more responsible for the situation in Northern Ireland than the man on the moon. It can NEVER be justified to kill innocent people indiscriminately no matter how noble your cause. My dad was in the light infantry in the 70s til the early 90s fighting the scum known as the IRA.

Anyone that justifies killings of innocent people are also scum. That's just as bad as justifying the concentration camps!

I am not justifying their case at all, I just said that they felt the need to resort to other measures. I do NOT condone the killing of innocent people and never will.

Well, I'm been here almost nine months now, soon going back for short (3 weeks :D) holiday to Poland, but I must say I don't think about moving permanently back to Poland, at least not in next two-three years. Living here is still easier then in Poland, at least from my perspective, not only you can afford everything you need/want, you can also save some money and send them back to Poland, as I do now.
If I get a long-term contract at work I will most likely stay and start thinking about getting a flat, car. You know starting a real life. I'm also considering going to school, at least to perfect my english, then I could try to go to college. But life will show how things will turn up.

There is also one more possibility. I might just pack my stuff and head by to Poland, go to school there, maybe trying myself at the same subject I studied before and then coming here once again. But it's very unlikly though.

I recently read in the news paper that many Poles head back to Poland because we earn here "only" twice more then we used to few years back. Well I think this is truth but most of this people are those who speak very little english or not at all, so they are highly limited. I for one can't imagine living in a country where I couldn't pronounce my self at least at level that could allow me to explain what I want not knowing the right word for it.

Quite a long post, so let my say I'm sorry for any mistakes I made.

Pozdrawiam

Finally, someone that answers my question and the exact response I wanted. There are no mistakes in what you said. Your English is spot on. Good luck with your contract. What do you want to study at college? Are you looking to get into any specific profession?

I haven`t though about it yet, first of all I will have to what subjects are there, then I will pick one that intrests me or is be a good perspective for the future. Always wanted to go on IT, but now it`s out of reach, my maths is so "low". But I'm confident I can find something nice for myself.
Maybe you could provide me with some insights how does the studing in the UK looks like, because I don't have a clue. I wasn't paying my attention at school when we discussed this matter, hehe.
I mean the basics, how does the exams look like, is it expensive and anything else you think I should know before going to college.

Well, I'm happy to hear that.

There's also one more issue, I must find myself a nice miss, eaither Polish or English. No rush though. :)

I did a college course in Nottingham on Joinery/Carpentry and the whole course, including exams cost me £530. That was evening courses. The price varies depending on what courses you're looking at.

Have a look at these courses, pay no attention to the price on the site though. You need to contact your college where you live for details but this could give you the options of what courses to choose.
http://www.ucas.com/students/coursesearch/coursesearch2008/

You could go to college on evenings to study maths so that you could get into your preferred profession. One thing though, you MUST be exceptional in the English language and when you go to the courses ask for as much help as you can. After all you are paying them.

You're looking for a girlfriend lol? What city do you live in? If you live anywhere near Preston I can sort something out for you *wink* If you're going to go for an English girl I'd recommend NORTHERN English girls, I love them! There's a much higher ratio of stunning English lasses up North than there are down South .
