Can Admin and Moderators read Private Messages?

I don't know the mechanics here, but it is not so on other forums, so I doubt it would be so here.

That is a really interesting point, so this actually means that PM's (private Messages) are not private at all, i think i'll be filing a law suit for 'false advertisment'. they should be called M2M (member to member) rather than Private Messages.

Only they can answer such a question but by saying:

Lefty:

This suggests that they will not sell our private messages as post made on the thread system are public.

I know that they have access to certain things, for example, Wroclaw knew who I was even after I changed my user name as did Polskadoll so my guess is that Admin has ultimate power however mods have the ability to delete/modify any PM/post.

If I am wrong mods/admin, please, tell us.

well that sorts that out then, only question left is, how do we give permission?? Is that when we sign on or do we actually have to tell the Admin/Mods that we want them to read our PM's??

Can Admin and Moderators read Private Messages? It is a decent set up so I think that Admin can, whether he grants the Mods the ability to do so I dont know, but I would doubt it.

We're not interested in them, they're private messages after all. The only reason you'd permit us access is if there was something deathly horrific in your PM that you couldn't forward to us but wanted us to see. Otherwise, keep them to yourselves or use the report button.

yeah but each of those IP addresses have logged into the the same account at some point or another, its just a case of looking at IP addresses that have accessed your original 'ID' and cross referencing with those IP adresses of the new 'alius'

giving password? Oh come on, these pms are just some data laying around in the database, I suppose a simple:
select * from private_messages where user_name = 'jump_bunny'
would do the job, or maybe is the data encrypted somehow with the use of password you mentioned before? Even if it is those passwords also have to be somewhere in the database, so even if mods can't read / see any of these messages database administrator should be perfectly capable of reading them..
