My biggest ailment is posting pictures here.

I participate in many forums, both Polish and foreign. They all accept each other`s posts with image content, ie., I can copy my post with photographs from one forum and paste it in a dozen others without difficulty.

Why is it different here? This forum creates some silly tricks with addresses. Instead of simple, commonly used in other forums, [img][/img] with a photo address inside, you get sth else.

This is real drudgery to change manually each photo`s address to suit this PF.

Another thing is description, really useless. I never write any description because I don`t have time, posting tens of pictures in a thread. I just write one letter and it stands for description. Is it really needed?

I must say that the problem limits my activity in the forum a bit. In other forums I specialise in photo stories from Poland with about 25.000 photos loaded now on my accounts and thousands found on the Net. I would like to share more with you but I don`t have time to labour on each photo.

What can be done about it?

I didn't know any different, this is my only forum.

It would be great if it were easier to post photos, it is tricky and many people don't bother a second time.

Is there a problem with space? do photos take up too much memory, i don't know how it all works.

Cool, I would love to see more.
Do you mean to say you have them loaded onto your computer or onto a photo website?.

I usually download my photos straight from my computer.

The only different thing is that for images posted under [img] tags we require a description (it may not be the case with [imgs] tags).

It may seem useless at first, but with a description your job is going to be more efficient and more users would have a chance to see your posted pictures (and I guess that is your goal too). It's because when you relevantly describe a picture it will be indexed under the correct 'theme' in search engines; if you don't provide any description or description is misleading, it won't have a chance to be found under the relevant keywords. So if you post a picture of a "Polish patriot" but describe it as 'aaa' then what are the chances for an Internet user to enter 'aaa' in the image search box in the hopes to find a picture of a Polish patriot? Same applies to all other posted pictures.

Sometimes less is more and that's the case with posting less pictures with correct description rather than posting multiple pictures with no or useless descriptions.

It has nothing to do with space limit but with trying to be relevant both in posts and pictures..

That's a good alternative way indeed (that way you can post 4 picture with each post).

Do you count me among those "most members", teddy? If you do then
I would like to assure you that it's neither racism nor bigotry on my part.

I just don't like you, that's all.

no, if you simply didnt like me, you wouldn't keep bringing albania into the picture. you have some preconceived notions of how it is there, even though you have probably not left your computer room in poland in a few weeks.

When did I ever say anything about Albania?

You must confuse me with someone else.

while i agree with this point you should not stop people from speaking freely on a public forum, if they are racists, sexists etc etc, let them show themselves up. If you let somebody show their true colours then the only person who will feel the consiquences of their writting is themselves when everybody else ignores them or has a little bite back.

As for what gets my goat, well, i just dislike the amount of threads dedicated to:

'Polish girls are they the sexiest, polish girls are the best ever, polish girls vs german girls' etc etc 'poles are not racists, there are no racists in poland, polish people in london labelled racist'

Instead could we not just pop these on into one thread as so much repetition happens on PF that it drives me crazy.

Another thing i don't like but cannot and would not change is the amount of forums wasted on past history and past situations, i'm not going to go into specifics but there are a few that are needless or again, repeated again and again week by week. As the only conversation that goes on in these threads are moaning and playing the victim, which i feel gives a bad impression for those who from time to time drop in on the forums

yeah, i don't post nearly as many photos as i could, chiefly because of the hassle. personally, i don't care about indexing especially when i link the pictures. i never upload either since i'd lose control over MY images.

the other thing that irks me, is the willy-nilly post editing around here.. so, if you guys/gal are going to move my posts somewhere, why don't you just erase them completely. if you don't like what or where i posted.. dump them, don't move them.. i always intend to post where you find it.. i don't want my posts anywhere else. thanks.

Sorry, I can`t agree. Time wasted on full descriptions won`t have such great impact on my pics` popularity as you suggest. I just feel it. How many people come to the forum in hope of finding pictures? I believe very few because most people look for graphics in google.

Besides, I live today. Who knows if I will be alive next week? That is why I expect immediate response to my pictures on the very day of posting, and not next week or year.

You may be right here but my style of posting pics is different. I am sorry. :):):)

actually i do have a real point to make for once!!!

I have a problem with the anti-spam feature, for example when i want to post in two different forums quickly, i find i cannot. Due to the fact i get the anti-spam feature popping up. Yet even if i wanted to i could not post more than one message at a time on one thread as i would need somebody to post before i could post again myself.

For somebody who types as quickly as myself it is rather annoying when i can't jump from the 'word association' thread to the 'random chat thread' and just post when i feel like it. It seems like there are two barriers where only one is needed. I don't need a minute to post in two threads thank you!! I'm capable of doing two messages in about 30 seconds, especially if they are short.

Is there some way we could just have the feature that stops you posting twice in a row and cast out the anti-spam??? It just seems like your taking a 'belt and braces' approach

while that helps you it dosen't really move my world!!!! why not just have the anti-spam feature for 'guests'??? I mean if a member starts to spam they can just be banned by admin

You feel it, I work with it.

Question for you: How did you find PolishForums.com? Did you just happen to randomly type-in http://www.polishforums.com in your web browser or you used some other means to find it? Maybe you typed in something related to Poland in Google search? But then why would you type something related to Poland if - as you say - your time is too valuable? You could just typed in 'aaa' instead.

That applies to everybody else, you are not an exception to the rule. If you expect immediate response, spend more time on this forum instead of posting them multiple times on other forums and then the response is likely to be greater and faster. :

Currently you can post one message every 60 seconds. It's mostly to prevent flooding the forum with useless messages (usually posted by spammers). This is a forum, not a chat message system and 'word association' thread is not why this forum exists. You cannot post a subsequent message if you were the last poster in that thread for the same reason - to prevent useless 'bump' posts.

Probably not because the next time you'd probably expect an answer to your question 'where are the mods, this guy floods the forum with junk posts!'.

Right, but admin and moderators need some sleep too and cannot always react the same minute a problem appears.

If we only had...

- ignore button
- arcade
- vBookie
- chatbox
- signatures

..this forum would be very close to being a perfect one.

It's still great without these features too :)

we should apply for funding for a new tv show, i'm sure it will carry some weight in the states, they watch anything. 'Pimp my Forum' imagine if somebody was to give the forum a makeover and had unlimited funds to do what the hell they liked with it!!!!!

Torq:
- arcade
- vBookie
- chatbox
- signatures

you could have all this and more :):):)

I have to agree with that. It's nice and easy to read. I notice there are no adverts like in some other forums, one thing I notice that is distracting in other forums is adverts between posts. I also like the signatures that you have here on PF, simple ones not those big, flashy ones like other forums.

Having been a member of another Polish forum with the features I mentioned above I think that PF is essentially based around words which is, of course, supposed to be the point of a forum, not flashy signatures or adverts.

At the moment nothing bothers me enough to complain about it. ;)

OK, I switched on and sent you a PM. It's 2 forums, both of which don't exist now, at least I can't access them anyway. :)

I agree. The Admin tried to play with colors in the past, shifting avatars left and right..etc, but it went back to "normal": easy to read, clean, no bright distracting hues or ads. It's all about the words and opinions, good or bad. Based on search words, it's easy to find PF on Google. The only dislikes in my case are excessive, multiple youtube videos pasted in some threads. Come on...we can find wacky videos ourselves if we want to. Post one or two, but not seven at a time!

Limited profile settings, inability to set signature - long story short, limited rights due to absence of gold membership. I don't think GM should provide one with any privileges comparing to others or elsewise it turns out very Orwellian.
And yes I share the image issue, noticed by Pawy.

bear#45, nobody deprives you of the opportunity to say stupid things. Let others be racist. It'a a less evil I believe.

Having relevant posts swept away. Please tell me, Mods, what is not relevant about discussing a joint training program between Serbian and Polish forces on a thread regarding Poland's readiness for a future attack on its soil? Serbian forces have a lot of experience and they could help Poland prepare for a future attack. Yes, it's hypothetical but still...

Well, it probably won't be restored but since when has security not been an issue? It is even one of the pillars of the EU of which Serbia may accede to. It's a modern reality and worth discussing.
