Blocking private mail from moderators

I'd just like to check that it is acceptable to block private mail from moderators: is it? Sorry but I prefer not to get abusive private mail that uses obscene language from anybody, and that includes mods.

Hello and welcome to Polishforums!

Sure, you can just add them to your block list. I'd suggest messaging the admin with the questionable message as well.

We've observed that the best way to avoid abusive public messages is to stay on topic in the public forums, and to try and avoid attacking people directly there.

Do you mean such as, for example, posting that English teachers don't have families to support but instead have alcohol addictions to support?

No need to take up his time with it. Problem is now solved and I'll be getting no more private messages, obscene or otherwise, from the particular mod in question.

PolishTraitor: obscene language from anybody, and that includes mods. I doubt very much that you have received a pm from a mod using obscene language. As far as I know all mods are able to send you a pm even if you are over your pm limit etc, and it would make no sense to be able to block one from sending advice or warnings as the case may be.

It depends on the thread in question. Posts may contain the opinions of individual users. If you're overly sensitive, this probably isn't the right forum for you. You may want to look over some of the existing posts to get a feel for the forum. Please be aware that personal attacks may be grounds for suspension or outright banning.

why cant they post what has been said? if someone feels they are being treated badly
its better to get it out in the open. that should be up to the poster what they do and not
do with their private pms.. plenty of people have posted what has been pmed to them
so they can show they were not lying.

It's not really that bad, I have had worse, not from a mod though....yet.

It wouldn't qualify for hate speech.

Now that it is posted on the forum, does it lose it's "personal" status and become a ''Public Message?''

Agreed not very professional but when are they a ''person'' and when are they a ''moderator''?

That's why I don't understand why the mods don't have two accounts, one to moderate in and the other to post as a "normal" poster.
Might be a pain changing profiles all the time...?
It seems that when someone becomes a moderator they usually stop posting because they get in to trouble for it.

Harry, you have an issue with having been suspended. It's as easy as that. Just say it. You think that you were treated unfairly. That's a legitimate complaint, why you have to bring it up by proxy is beyond me.

You were sent that message privately, by me, in response to a comment in the public forums. Please don't pretend that your feelings were hurt. If it did hurt your feelings, you would have reported it to the admin, and let him sort it out instead of dragging it out here. That little tag next to my name, the one that says [Moderator], doesn't mean that I have to be a source of moral guidance on the forum, It means that topics that are wandering will be steered back on course, and personal insults will be removed, which I did (and do).

This has nothing to do with any responsibility that I have as a moderator. I will continue to make comments as I please, you can block me, just like you would any other user, and you don't have to worry about getting any private messages. It's not like you're being harassed. Sorry, I haven't been castrated, and I'm not going to muzzle myself. If you think you're being treated unfairly, hey, it's a free world and you can post wherever you'd like. You don't have to continue to put up with the abuse.

If you have a problem with an edit, or moving of a post/thread, then you can bring the whole moderator bit into question. If not, then it's between two users. What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?

You're feeling sorry for yourself for the suspension and want to play the victim card now, bring it up with the admin. It's a forum for god's sake. Read some of your own posts.

Anyway, feel free to continue posting in this thread. But don't pretend that your sensibilities were hurt through a private message that you decided needed to be posted in the public forums. Speak up about your real complaint.
