PF: The racist brigade

Well having been a member for just over a year now i have recently reflected on my time here. One thing struck me hard, when i first joined it was a small community full of genuine people who enjoyed a good fair debate with other members. Now and again a bit of fun in other threads, however today i see PF in a darker light. What i mean is that the forum seems to be growing a large racist contingent.

When i first joined last june/july i could count the number of racists on 3 fingers, now i don't have enough fingers to even tot up 1/7 of the racists on the site. I'm all for free speech and i don't even want them band, my question is why are there so many???

I know that Poland is itself, having a problem with racism like many nations including the UK, US etc etc. It strikes me that the polish racism is very much 'ignorance' rather than hate etc. I was speaking to a Polish person last night on skype, they made a few comments that could be considered racist and didn't even realise what they were saying until i told them!!!!!. No wonder Poles in the UK get slammed for being racist, the way they talk someimtes about Muslims, Blacks etc makes them sound like dirty racists, when actually its just ignorance.

I feel the same about this stie, there is a lot of racism that is 'ignorance' although at the same time i would say there are 'hate' racists on here too. Just wondered what everybody thinks??? am i totally wrong here or do i have a point???

I am a fairly new member and as far as I am concerned it has always been this way. You have a BIG point, I don't even bother reading half the stuff people I have come to recognize say anymore, except noimmigration for some reason I still read his stuff.
One fault in your point is that most if not all the racist comments do NOT come from Polish people but from other nationalities.

Kill all the racists and you are one

i'm sorry for that and i didn't mean to make it look like all the racism comes from Poles, of course it does not and yes you are correct it comes from all nationalities. I was talking Polish racism in reference to the 'ignorance' factor and didn't mean to pick them out specifically as the only racists

There has always been racism here only that It usually used to be Polonophobia and now more often other kinds of racism.

I did not get that bit myself. I do not find a large racist thing going on here, probably because there is hardly anybody to be racist against.

I personally havent experienced any racism or seen any here in poland but i am in warsaw and big cities tend to be a bit more open minded. as well my polish isnt so good but people seem interested and somewhat amazed by the africans and asians. Lets keep in mind the iron curtain hasnt been up for very long still. I have read some disturbing racist comments on this forum and one even took my quotes and used them for his racist comments against jews. what to do u put ur words out there and they are gone. I personally like multicultural life and other cultures.

Exactly, to say there is not a racism problem in Poland is silly silly silly, i didn't start this thread about 'Poland' but about 'PF' There are racists on here from, the UK, US, Russia, Serbia and Poland!!!! they are everywhere, stop denying that Poland has a racist issue because it does, a lot to do with ignorance rather than hate, as i have said before

actually mate i don't think somebody has made a thread about this, if they have then i apologise for repeating. I also believe that this thread will help, rather than hinder if people stick to the topic of PF and Racism, not POLAND and racism.

what is the wrong with highlighting a problem?? if you keep quite about things nothing is ever done.

Indeed, it is has been said before on this forum that some people visiting the website for the first time will find the racism offensive and not bother to come back.

i think your right about, what you can do about it, not much to be honest. I just thought it was worth highlighting, i was looking to see what other people thought.

As for the experiences in life, its probably due to lack of experience of other cultures, lifestyles, colours, creeds etc etc.

I think that there IS a lot of racism and ignorance in the world. I believe it is learned behavior. I think that education has the power to remove ignorance in people.

People in an anonymous forum also have the freedom and opportunity to express their beliefs in a way that might not happen in everyday living. This forum also becomes a place for people to vent out their frustrations with the other people they rub elbows with in their jobs, the streets, where ever.

Having said all that, it has often occurred to me that people get rougher/tougher after being on PF for a while. Maybe it is from combating the trolls, or out of frustration, I don't know.

You can still join, and its all about the 14 words. Im a pole, with teal blue eyes. That scene is to signify our people, culture, preservence in it and all out pride for it!

Not really much crteria needed, you just need to be a full time racist, as long as your that it dosen't matter!!!

I dont mean to always stick up for the guy, but I see alot of lost knowlegde needing apply...

PF did become way too much into race and politics, two subjects which for many people are hard to handle, so the threads quickly become a battlefield...full of snippy remarks, arguments and name calling.

People say things they would never say to another person face to face. I find this type of threads simply a playground for the real racists..
There is nothing wrong with a national pride and every country has the right to be proud of their heritage, but when you constantly put down another nation to feel better about yours, it make you a racist.

It seems like western countries would love to keep Poland in "its" place and the idea that this country did so much in a such short time seems to be mind bugling for some. Yes, it happened with a lot of financial help from the west and Poland is grateful for that. The country had its wings clipped for way too long.

...and then a troll(s) shows up to "spice" things up - making new members run and amuse 'guests'.
