Are you sure they are Americans? I always thought, they are Poles who live in the US.

Let's see what is allowable: n*gg*r, kike, slope, spic, polack, hymie, porchmonkey, lymmie, jigaboo.

Surprisingly, you are allowed to offend everyone but blacks. Nig*ger seems offensive, but others are free to use.

In April, you described my home as a "den of fags". Fortunately the Mods moved it to Random Chat. I think an apology is in order.

Jonni, I'll go this far. If I called you a fag, I will come to Bar Below and let you slap me publicly. How is that?

Edit: You are mistaking me with someone else, but if you can pull up such a quote, I will stand fast a take it on the face.

Isn't Bar Below closed? I've maybe been there twice in the past 3 years and I'm sure that the last time I was there was a closing down party.

As I remember you were quite angry at the time, and I'd almost certainly been provoking you a bit. And I conditionally apologise in case it was in fact Sokrates who interrupted the discussion and said it.

For the record, I think the word 'Polack', when spelt with a Ck, shouldn't be used on this forum if at all.

The first time I ever heard the word 'Polak' (with a long o) was from a WW2 veteran who'd served with Poles and almost certainly both heard the word from them and had a very high opinion of them as people.

It does sound like Sok, not me. We've had some disagreements before but I've always found it distastful to call someone such names. Trust me, I did not. I've been known to hit around waste level, but not below. I didn't know Bar Below closed. I wanted to throw darts there as it was the only place where there were non-electronic darts.

Anyway, I see mods are present, and unfazed. Can he or she at least identify himself? Say hallo.

but not below.

That's my feeling, and the more I try to recollect, I'm mixing you with Sok - sorry!

It would be interesting to know which mods are here and what their take on the "Pollack" thing is. Personally it wouldn't have occurred to me that it could offend until I read here that it's used perjoratively in America. If it offends, it shoildn't be used for the sake of what used to be called political correctness and is now called inclusive language. I get irritated when people say "Angol", and therefore understand what Poles are saying about "Pollack".

I remember when I was a kid at the house of a friend who was Asian (actually partly Pakistani and partly Polish) being shocked when his sari-wearing mother mentioned going to the Paki shop. But if Asian people say it, it's reclaiming language; if people say it in hostility - and Espana is a prima facie example of a troll, that shouldn't be allowed.

We've had discussions here that since this is a sort of Polish forum or, at least it appers to be to people turning to it, it should reflect some awareness on the part of the Admin and the Mods that will always be some jerks trolling it to offend. I'm all for freedom of speech, but there must be some common sense. If moderators do not understand the issue, they can look up the term for themselves and be consitent. We either can call blacks nig*gers and Poles Polacks or we can't. You can't even say shi*t or a$$ (gasp) so what's up?

They suspend Seanus for whatever but not the known troll Espana. Who are these mystery mods and why are they selective? Smells of an agenda, and I had thought we put that away. BTW, I've been suspended and did not complain about it. This thread should be dunked along with its originator:

you polacks are a shame.

Can the mods reflect on this?

Look son, you are not Polish and you came here from Stormfront. You are not 18-years-old, as you said, and when you came here along with your buddy XXX88, it was clear from your posts that you are some wannabe neo-nazis. Take the opportunity to stay put. You, 18(AH)(Adolph Hitler) and your buddy 88(HH)(Heil Hitler) are so obvious and better of discussing your Aryan roots elsewhere.

Good points 1jola.

Forum Rules and Code of Conduct.

2. Posters should refrain from using abusive or derogatory language (unless it's necessary to explain the language's nuances). Posters who use abusive or derogatory language toward other users may be banned.

Why doesn't it apply to trolls? (espana comes to mind)

8. If, from the moderators perspective, the intention of the poster is to ridicule another poster, the offensive post may be removed without warning and the poster may be suspended.

Why aren't the posts deleted?

3. If possible, posters should avoid discussing religious, racial, or very personal subjects. Admin and moderators have the right to delete or edit posts that relate to religious or personal lives of forum members.

Ok, that's what got Seanus and nott suspended.

I'm asking: Why are some rules enforced and some not? If the word N is filtered, why aren't all others? Nobody is asking to suppress/censor posters opinions but all unnecessary derogatory names should be filtered just the same.

Ah, an overly sensitive Lib blatantly pulls out the PC card. Folks hate PC. And PC is what it is, no matter how you people have repackaged it.

And throw in a little blatant double standard too.

Oh, grow up.

Here's an idea: Why don't you try MYOB and worry about your own words...

I've seen you accuse straights of being gay as a slur, only because you didn't like their stated views which hurt your fragile feelings. That to me is much more offensive than some silly labels.

And then here you accuse another of calling you a "fag" when they didn't... That's reckless as well as offensive.

I think it is clearly you who has the problem here, Mr. Hypersensitive PC Hypocrite.

Let's see Polak means Pole in English, how can that be derogatory? How stupid is that?

African Americans in the states love to play the race card. "you're racist" "that's racist" blah blah blah. Some people of Polish descent on this forum (no where else) want some sort of perverse identity by aping African Americans and claiming discrimination. Unfortunately people who have never been to the States believe this BS.

I know, but it doesn't matter. It could be the most complimentary term in the world in Polish but In English the term is used as an insult. That is it's purpose.

No the original word "Polak" pronounced with a mild P and K sound came from the Polish language. In the context of the Polish language its not offensive.

The word "PolaK" prounounced with a hard P and K sound has been used by the Hollywood/TV media establishment in the 60's and 70's in conjunction with so called "Polack-inferior intelligence "jokes"/slurs to trash Poles in those days.

For some reason you don't mind this language because you come from the street where everyone around you through around street language and words like Kraut, Dago, Wop, Kike, N****r, Spic, Mic, Harp, POLACK etc, so you're not sensitive to it.

Your the kind of guy where if somebody spit in your face but made sure he told you, "Don't worry.....nothing was meant by it....it was just a Polack joke", you would then smile and say WELL OK......as long as you say "nothing is meant by it" I guess I will be a "good little Polack" and accept it.

Polish Americans don't want special treatment at all. They just want equal treatment as other ethnic groups and races in the US.

Years ago when I spoke to NON-Poles like Irish Americans, Italian Americans, Black Americans, etc they always said that they wouldn't take the abuse that Polish Americans took from the media. These were NON-Polish Americans who sayed this, NOT "sensitive" Polish Americans.

When ever there were reports in the media of Polish Americans speaking out against Anti-Polish defamation, NON-Polish Americans would joke to me and say "Its about time you Polish Americans spoke out against those anti-Polish slurs".

So what does that tell you CP??

So it's overly sensitive to agree with Poles who are offended by the word "Pollack"? Perhaps it's a word you approve of.
