Retaining the same user name from inception

I have to say I am very impressed by posters on this forum who have retained the same user name throughout. It shows a great committment to the site and also genuine belief in what they have posted, irrespective of the backlash they may have encountered. I admire you all for that.

Why? You wouldn't do it?

It seems I'm always getting myself in trouble for things I post on the internet, but I guess some people never learn? All I want to show people is that we all make mistakes, and that sometimes it shouldn't even be taken seriously. I don't want to be a role-model to anyone, and I certainly don't want to be perfect. It's easy to point the finger for some people, but I know for a fact that most of the people who do point the finger, are doing the very same things behind closed doors.

I admire you all for that.

It's okay to be human, so I'm trying really hard not be admired sometimes.

Some might fancy a change? Some may have left and come back and forgotten their log in (I did with my original)

Well, the only reason to change a name would be if you are banned for some reason...PF is actually a pretty open forum for discussion...I don't know how many have been banned...As far as trying to hide because you get angry reactions to opinions, don't sweat it, because nobody agrees on everything...This is the nature of people and opinions...What they say?...'Opinions are like a** holes, everybody has one'!...Many posters on here are fairly well read, and can make valid arguments...Viva free speech...It's only a chat room, albeit a good one.

Ofcourse, but..

It shows a great committment to the site and also genuine belief in what they have posted

..this is probably why I've said what I've said. (I didn't mean to say that people who change names often are scared or whatever!)

Some may have left and come back and forgotten their log in

Hey, it happens to the best of us?

:)

I know some people forget their password, and it is difficult to login under the original name. However, some people do take a "battering" on this forum, and often it becomes personal and "to the bone", but they still bounce back.

I know it is only a forum but of course it is real as people have real feelings. I admire people who keep their true identity and everyone knows the person they are dealing with.

I have had a few identities on this forum, never been abusive or vulgar, well maybe only once!

There are some real genuine people on this forum, and some really interesting conversations, a bit like a family really.

I have had a few identities on this forum,

Do you mean you were pretending to be someone you're not? I've stopped doing that a long time ago! At first it was curiousity, then it became a second nature, and eventually I took it too far. So I guess that's my useless advice to everyone on the internet; Just be yourself and don't be ashamed.

never been abusive or vulgar, well maybe only once!

So you've never cussed behind your screen? Have you atleast *thought* somebody was being an a-hole once or twice?

;)

There are some real genuine people on this forum, and some really interesting conversations, a bit like a family really.

That's nice.

I know it is only a forum but of course it is real as people have real feelings.

I think some people aren't really aware of that sometimes, but I guess we all have to learn the hard way..
