My post count is impressive?

Count is impressive but not content

RevokeNice:
It is not really when you take into account that I usually argue with ten people at once per thread.

well it would with your comments. 10 fcuk off more like 3, calm down son, dont get ahead of yourself there.

phpBB…and then everybody should be happy :-)

Are you happy with phpBB? I'm not so much impressed.

Wroclaw Boy:
Id say the balance is pretty good right now

True. but never rest - it is the constant struggle for perfection and never attaining it, that we can be perfect :) (now that'll give you a headache if you don't get all that jazz)

Pimpek:
add age groups

personally i think age groups is a terrible idea, i'm against it for two main reasons, firstly PF is already divided into more subjects/threads/topics than you could shake a stick at. I get posts moved on the reg enough as it is for being off topic, let alone if i was to post in the wrong 'age group'. :)

Secondly age does not really matter or come into consideration when your writting on a public forum, unless of course it has something specifically to do with a certain topic/thread/subject. There is a lot a younger member could tell and older member and visa versa on different subjects. For example i'm sure i could tell a 40+ a lot about sports, geography, leadership etc etc that they may not neccaseraly have known previous. At the same time a -18 could probably tell me a lot about quanum physics, literature & history. Its not your age that counts here, its your experiences and areas of interest/prorfession.

I mean ok, age groups are all well and good on a dating website, where i would not really be interested in the 30+'s and the -20's, however we are not on a dating website so age becomes rather irrelevant.

Yeah, much more appropriate than 'to be or not to be' ;) I like to keep my eye on the pint. I remember hearing a story about a guy who fell asleep and folk were tipping ash into his beer can. When he woke up, he was none the wiser and started swilling away, LOL

Poor sod!!

Agreed.

more subjects/threads/topics than you could shake a stick at.

Depends on the size of the stick and amount of free time I have - terms and conditions apply, not regulated by the financial regulator but destined for OT :)

Yes, yes, bring balance to the force, come to the dark side....we have stout!
lol espana. I dont have the time to mod like I used to be honest. And Seanus, he's a SHEEP! you can't give it circuts!

Hmm… I'd say yeah I'm impressed with phpbb3 over the previous 2 version. It's still an open source and GPL app, great support, lots of available mods, support for multiple database management systems (mysql, mssql, oracle, postgresql etc.), a way better search engine than any other app of this kind (ipb, vBulletin etc.), blah, blah, blah...

…and it works the way it suppose to, unlike some others out there ;-)
Jihozapad  Jul 25, 09, 00:28    #41
I think we should have a "Who's the sexiest PF Member" poll, we had one on the Rinse FM forum back in the day, and I came third! lol! :)

I won't get any votes on here, though.

It feels any point system would be easy to break and it's better not to provide any system if it's not bullet-proof. But most important is that adding such system would only add clutter and unnecessary things to the forum; the message itself should be the most important instead. It takes less time to skim a 100-word post than to: decide if to vote, then decide if to vote 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down', then repeat it with every post. In time (possibly after a few days or so) such system would lose the most of its value because you're here to read and give written opinions rather than agree or disagree with a voting system. It's just not efficient and time consuming.

michaltk:
change the boring grey layout to something less boring... and then everybody should be happy :-)

Maybe except for your eyes and head ;}. Perhaps adding some colorful banners or pop-ups would help?

daffy:
it kinda allows readers see if the views of the poster are supported
like lets say, oh i dont know, crow ;) or espana, or admin! :P (ok maybe admins and mods exempt, but still) kindof an interesting idea.

I dont think it adds or detracts quality - maybe it just adds clutter but then, an interesting point to see the racist threads exposed more visually as being a real minority.

Clutter is bad indeed; the less clutter the better :)

michaltk:
install few useful modules such as user warnings etc.;

Once you have at least 20 posted messages you'll be able to alert moderators about inappropriate posts.

Wroclaw Boy:
Whats your motivation Admin? im curious.

The biggest motivation is to make the site useful and efficient for those who want to learn about Poland and Polish people. Other things may/will come later if needed. If the main motivation was to 'make money' then the site would probably fail after a few months. The idea is quite simple - do what you are interested in and do it well and other things will come when you need them.

I still think that getting rid of those guests would be a good idea, i mean most of the 'guest' posts are crap, if its not an advert for a job, scam or a woman then its just random rubbish. If you want to post on PF then become a member!!! what is the problem with that Admin??

Guests can only posts in selected forums and sometimes their opinions are interesting and useful. Sometimes only one topic/news may be interesting to them and if they all were required to register then most of them would not bother. Registered users can and will also post 'crap.'

Thank you for your valuable comments. In spite of some annoying content, PF is still somehow charming and addictive which shows you are successfull at what you are doing.

On the other hand there may still be some suggestions which may add some more value to it (of course not banners and pop-ups :) )

admin, don't change a thing (well, up the PM count eh?)... gray is good too. :)

tornado2007:
If there were no Mods/Admin, that would be cool, imagine a free for all!!!!!!! Chaos would rule and PF would have so many hits its popularity would go through the roof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that is actually true but admin didn't care for it even though i loved it.. or maybe that's why he hated it. lol

Some of us remember the old skool Usenet days when everything was black on white (or even green on black). Actually, come to think of it... my terminal emulator is still green on black... lol :)

it might seem a bit strange to people who come here looking for recipes. ;)

First message board I've ever been on which allows guests to post, it's not right imo, for the reasons you've stated ;)

Ah, those were the days, those were the days...When everything was still fun and new and it all had an air of complexity. But now? It's all naked women on your computer! Twitterboxes, Facebooks! And more nonsense! Ppl buying computers like they're sawing machines! They don't have a clue about computers anymore! I always say: when you don't have a driver's license, don't buy a Jaguar! Bah!

No. I won't react to that statement. No, I won't do it.

When no-one else had internet access at home, except you :)
