I am wondering why do the delete the threads or move to off-topic categories? I made a recent thread about the Volcano and the problems with the air flights in europe and now it is been moved to off topic category. This is not off topic as it is the latest thing happening and affection many peoples travelling plans. Who decides the deletion or movement of threads to another categories?

Answer:

Because you don't care to think before posting. For example, you posted this thread in "Everyday Life" and that means you don't care about the answer (if you did, you'd have posted it in the FAQ and Help section).

In your post you never mentioned anything about Poland being in any way affected (and Europe doesn't always = Poland).

Post moved from another thread.

Moderator, there's no easy way to say this - assuming we are referring to my photo link and convex's reply to that, your response to the above post is both inadequate and, well, wrong.

The posts you deleted were on topic in their original context - which is its own argument for NOT merging the threads in the first place if you find, later, that they are not.

Unless, of course, you are of the opinion that they were off-topic in their original location. In which case, the decision to remove betrays a simple failure to grasp humour - really not an ideal quality for someone in your position.

If you want users to have some level of confidence in what you do (and, looking around the board, said confidence is in pretty short supply) you might want to think about this.

For starters, and as a general rule, don't delete what you perceive to be off-topic. Don't merge threads unless absolutely necessary. Feel free, of course, to advise and admonish (as I believe I've seen you do elsewhere, and effectively) before getting the scissors out.

Thanks, A (who understands, as a mod elsewhere, what your pressures are. But please - stop taking short-cuts)

this must be the work of the newest mod.. he also seems to get a hardon for renaming thread titles unnecessarily (as they were up to thread title creation rule) and to something that doesn't necessarily match the intent of OPs.

this willy-nilly moderating is starting to get rather tiring..

rules @ the bottom:
- Stay on topic. If your post is not related to this thread,

and of course this merge doesn't even follow this rule.. it's not related to this thread at all.. wtf??

Yeah, great isn't it.

Doesn't Admin vet these people before giving them the car keys?

Because you post it in the wrong place. Maybe next time you'll get it right. Good luck.

Boring topics are binned.

Simple.

Go to Volcano Explorers` site to find the audience. :):):):):

Because most forum members don`t like to read about dentists, drilling, fillings etc. Simple.
