it depends where they are. if they are in Off Topic they will be deleted in due course.

Wroclaw Boy:
No they stay forever.

This is true to some extent.

I tried closing my previous account like this, but it's still active :D

FAQ:
15. Members who haven't posted any public message within 1 year from their last post may be removed from the member database.

Emphasis appears to be on may, because there are plenty of active accounts which haven't been used for over a year. Check out a few of the bumped threads from 2-3 years ago if you don't believe me ;)

Is it not possible to close accounts ourselves and delete our own threads?
So, you can ban me then..

If you want to self destruct just change the email address in your account info to one that doesnt exist, i believe you'll be locked out and the only way to regain access is through clicking the link on the confirmation email - which obviously you wont recieve.

I asked Admin to delete my Account 3 days ago?

All they did was suspened my I.P. but my account is still active???

Tom Admin, what is so hard with deleting my account, is it that you dont want other posters to see that members are dropping like flies from this site??

they probably just changed your password. Come back within 3 months and check if it was deleted eventually.

Well, he's right about that. If he wants it to be deleted then it should be deleted. Then again, the more members the more value for this forum in case of selling it, right? (gold members fee, advertisement etc.)

zetigrek:
Come back within 3 months

You're maybe right but then again, why does it he have to wait if he wants it deleted? It should be done right away.

Your posts will still be shown even if your profile is gone.

I thought admin said something about accounts being deleted after a few inactive months anyway.

Maybe he just doesn't appreciate to be on PF at all whatsoever.

Well, I don't think it's right. What's the purpose of it unless look above in my previous post.
Besides, you can post here right after you sign up, right? So why can't your account be deleted just as fast?

It was mentioned in the past that there is a grace period facilitated by banning and then deleting the account.

Serves two purposes, if you changed your mind, it's simple to change the status, and it discourages posters from coming back and posting under new user names.

Just hold off, and your account will be removed, just like everyone else that makes the same request.

I left for almost a year once, and when I came back my account was still active. (Or was that before this new rule was implemented?)

Did you send a PM or email to the admin asking him to remove it? If not, it will stay around for a while until a big cleanup happens.

I don't like it too. If they had deleted my acount when I was aking about it few months ago I wouldn't be here and waisting my time for pointless discussions ;) Admin supports my habit! ;)

Maybe he just doesn't appreciate to be on PF at all whatsoever.

But his posts will remain no matter what.

So what if his account is open, he doesn't have to use it.

That's the bit i don't understand, why come back, using a new name to start a thread about why his old account wasn't deleted?

guesswho:

There are thousands of members, should they all be able to have Admin running after them cleaning up their mess? Sledz joined of his own free will, he stayed of his own free will and he can just leave if he wants.

If he wants it deleted, sure why not but as I said I think that happens automatically if the account is not used for some time (I could be wrong).

But it woud not be easy to search your posts from your profile and collect together the information about you. It's about privacy.

This is a public forum, and it is indexed. You should keep that in mind anytime you make a post here. The world only knows as much about your username as you decide to share.

if u don't post within one month of opening an account... your account is closed.

if u do post after opening an account, but then don't post within one year... your account is closed.

if u request your account to be closed... usually a cooling off period is used just in case the member changes his/her mind.

Maybe because otherwise he wouldn't be able to find out about what he wants to know.

SeanBM:
Sledz joined of his own free will, he stayed of his own free will and he can just leave if he wants.

which he did

I repeat myself again, if you can post here right after you join this forum, you should be also able to resign just as fast and your account should be deleted immediately right after you asked for it and not being kept open for the admin or anyone else.

Wroclaw:

it doesn't sound like he will ever change his mind.
