How to close account?

convex: This is a public forum, and it is indexed. You should keep that in mind anytime you make a post here. The world only knows as much about your username as you decide to share. But why to make easier to search infos about me? Remove the account, leave the post and everything will be fine. What's the problem?

if you can post here right after you join this forum, you should be also able to resign just as fast and your account should be deleted immediately right after you asked for it and not being kept open for the admin or anyone else.

one problem with that is that one loses the right to reply using the same name.

if a number of people kept coming and going under different names... one would never know who they are talking to.

a registered name is exclusive to the person who opens an account... whereas a guest name can be copied.

You're maybe right but then again, why does it he have to wait if he wants it deleted?

So that he doesn't come back in a while to complain that someone else registered 'his' username and posting things he doesn't want to be associated with.

That's why the best way is not to delete an account but to change your password to something random and forget it.

Still, sledz, I PMed you 3 days ago and see no reason why you'd want to delete your account..

Sorry that we couldn't help you. On a side note, why do people bother with deleting their account? From my perspective, it's a lot more efficient for both sides to just stop posting and let the script automatically wipe out the unused accounts.

Sweeping what I wrote off was utterly stupid and childish. I informed him that his account would lapse in a year. What's wrong with that? He would likely have been happy It had already been mentioned in the thread.
