Quoting of just part of what someone says? It gives the posts a new meaning.

I think there should be a feature that prevents people from quoting only part of what someone says and then taking out words and such to have a new meaning, because others use their freedom to quote whatever they want to ridicule people and be silly. It just makes everything run off topic.

It'd be hard to implement without simply posting whole post of the quoted person.. there's no reason to have such redundancy here if you can just skim up and check that quoted post...

actually, this is the first forum that I've seen that has this feature, but I dislike it for a different reason. It leads to a lot of disjoined, sentence by sentence point and endless counterpoint arguments that eventually make so little sense, I just just skip right over them. I don't think there is much reason to quote in forums, it's enough to address the poster you're replying to, but if you feel you must quote, quote the whole thing. It is much better to stick to the point of the argument than give anal retentives additional tools to nit-pick over incidental ********.

George, delete that stupid thing while you still can!

but if you are not replying to the whole thing then what's the point?

well, the goal is, as I see it, to stay on the subject, or at least try to seque into the point you want to make.

that is why partial quotes are perfect for that reason.

people cane change the meaning of what you said to ridicule you and it makes things run off topic. I know what you mean if you are only answering to a particular part, but people abuse the privelege of doing that.

this is happening a lot recently. Can the mods/admin not do something about this as it's open to abuse ?
