this is a link to an article in Polish about first Polish gay marriage in Britain.

So to be on topic, open gay life is contrained in Poland.

Those 2 men were a couple for 6 years and a year ago they left Nowa Sol - small town in Western Poland, for Britain, Dunkienfield.

I have noticed that there is not a lot of gay bashing in this thread as someone tried to predict earlier. I guess I am pleasantly surprised... Poles rule!

Right so to the subject of 'the attitude towards gays in Poland'

Something smacks me in the face as soon as i think about this situation, no its not a man's member, lol, sorry for the joke. On the seriuos side, Poland is 96% Roman Catholic, which does not 'accept' gay people into the church, now i could be wrong there but i'm sure i'm not. If i am i apologise in advance.

So going on the fact that 96% of Poland is Roman Catholic surely then Gay people will be outcast or constrained and have their human rights taken away. I'm not going to go into my own personal opinion on 'gay' or 'gay marriages' as its not relevant to this topic. However i can see why gay people may feel constrained in a country with a high percentage of 'roman catholic' population.

Somebody made the comment earlier in the topic that 'gay people make so much fuss about being different yet want to be seen as normal' they make a good point, instead of crying about this and that, lead our lives gay or not and get on with it :)

Sure, Poland should just give up their religion so that gays don't feel contrained....

(truth is the gays can do whatever they want behind closed doors, that should be enough for them) if they still don't like it.. I got a good solution, they can leave for the UK, they love gay people there........ better yet, how bout we just give them the entire Island (half the island is gay anyways lol, j/k) ..... It will be known as the land of the rainbows... no more discrimination, it will be a place where they can live in peace, reproduce(hehehe) and live happily ever after......

all joking aside, the gays have it just fine in Poland.... they should just keep everything private and don't parade around town, forcing others to accept you.... and they'll be just fine.....

I just googled UK homophobic attacks and tons of articles popped up decribing brutal crimes in the UK, I typed in Poland homophobic attacks and one or two articles popped up.... surmise what you will from this, but these are the facts........... but I leave you with this, which country has the problem again?????

Where Are The WORLD’s Biggest Homophobes?

From Gay Community News: Northern Ireland came out as the western world's most homophobic state in a paper interpreting statistics from the Human Beliefs and Values Survey. Prof John Mangan, co-author of the paper entitled Love Thy Neighbour: How Much Bigotry is there is Western Countries, conducted his research in 24 Western countries. And Northern Ireland came out on top, with 36% saying they did not want gay neighbours. It gets better. Take it away Pink News: Not only does the province have the highest proportion of bigots, but the bigots are on average more bigoted than those in other countries. In Northern Ireland 44% of the 1,000 respondents did not want persons from at least one of the five groups - people of another race, immigrants or foreign workers,...

http://www.humanrightsfirst.org/discrimination/reports.asp?country=&id =25&misc1=survey-homophobia4

Just in London alone.......

There are national hate crime figures in the United Kingdom, but these do not track crimes motivated by bias based on sexual orientation. Within the United Kingdom, London's Metropolitan Police is the independent police authority with the most consistent and comprehensive monitoring on sexual orientation bias crimes. The statistics for London show a fairly steady level of crime motivated by sexual orientation over the past several years, with 1,245 homophobic crimes in 2003/2004, 1,346 in 2004/2005, and 1,294 in 2005/2006.[26] However, these figures likely represent only the tip of the iceberg as police themselves estimate that some 90 percent of homophobic hate crimes go unreported. The percentage of unreported homophobic hate crimes is suspected to be considerably higher than for racially- or religiously-motivated violence, even though the police there have made a concerted effort to improve their relationship with the capital's gay population.[27]

If your from the UK, first get your country in order before you jump on the high horse and point fingers....

Probably because heterosexuals are rarely discriminated against

yeah great idea, just throw a parade, that will make you more accepted.... lol

EbonyandBathory:
can tell is to announce that these people don't feel that their lifestyle is anything to be ashamed of and, most importantly that despite what society says, they are proud of themselves.

Proud, sounds like they have low self-esteem, if they have this need to feel accepted by everyone....

This is because its more difficult to attack gay people in Poland as violence against the clergy is frowned upon.
