I was just making a point that everybody should speak for themselves, since Frank was speaking on your behalf. That was my only point. I didn't know there was a pack - is there?

As for agreeing/disagreeing - well - we have diferrent opinions which doesn't mean I dislike you for it. Perhaps you meant something diferrent - please clarify.

I am not looking for bad in you Wolfie. You one of the nicest people on this forume - but it doesn't mean that we cannot disagree.
I didn't start this post so people will agree - it was for the purpose of exchanging opinions only.

I rather like what we call here the 'Old World charm', for ex., having the door opened for me, having my escort pick up the tab, men who stand when a woman enters the room (no jokes here please). When these actions are accompanied by true respect, this is a beautiful world.

I totally agree with the above.

I also say that each person should have their own view without being barated by other forum members and posts turning into a joke...this is supposed to be a debate and a conversation about feminism and what it means to women.

This is actually a good example of what happens in the pack when one of its members expresses a dissenting point of view. Some of the pack members will mock, threaten, ostracize him for it. It takes courage to stand up to the pack.

I should try to explain what I meant. I don’t mean to be this longwinded but I’m afraid this is me.

Human societies organize themselves in various kinds of groups, both formal and informal such as countries, races, genders, rich, poors, cities, families, groups of friends, cyber-forums, etc. The ‘alpha male or female’ is the leader of such a group. This model of organization also exists in animals such as wolfes, chimpazees and possibly many others. When one of the members of such a group challenges the beliefs of the others, or the beliefs held by the group as a whole, and upheld by the ‘alpha’, the other members will try to protect the ‘alpha’ and themselves by discrediting the dissenting member. The more threatening the challenge, the more severe the reaction will be from the group. It can go from mockery, to insults, to threats, to duels, to isolation. For example, a threat to a ruling king would probably mean a death sentence to the challenger. A threat to a world view such as the one Galileo and Copernicus voiced had similar dire consequences for at least Galileo (I don’t know what happened to Copernicus).

Similarly, when a person adopts a position that goes against what the other members of that group think , that person will more than likely face a similar reaction, (mockery, insults, threats, duels, isolation).

Protecting, or siding, with women is often viewed as a challenge to men’s authority over women. Therefore, men will often react by mocking the man who sides with women. They might tease him by asking who wears the pants in his house, or by asking if he has been neutered, therefore attacking his masculinity, his virility and his ability to rule a woman. In certain groups, the ‘punishment’ might be much worst.

So, the ‘pack’ I referred to in this case = whoever believes that women are not equal to men as persons.

The dissenting member = Wolfie’s comment that women are equals.

The ‘punishment’ = the joke about him being neutered.

Well i think ive said my point on this matter as best i could.....

1)...I think men and women are equal and that is a good things as well, be it in employment or in the privacy of there four walls.

2)...As a Wolf yes sometimes i howl alot and for good reason when i have something to say, but i protect the guys as well as the women folk. I dont get annoyed if a woman tells me im wrong as its just a case of we all have different points of view, and its respecting that person for it.

3)...I get the impression sometimes you all feel im the leader of the pack, or im all for female sex, well im no leader in that respect and as for looking out for the women, well im a normal guy who flirts a little, and anyone who knows me well knows im a caring person as such.

4)...Anyone of the guys who think im a pack leader im not as there is no pack as such, this would split the men and women straight down the middle and that aint going to happen. That would cause some arguments so it aint happening.

5)...And finally.. i went to a safari park the other day just to see a wolf or pack of wolves, just to see what they do. Maybe i have wolf blood in me, maybe i have an anchestor who was a werewolf, hell knows but the point is thats i look after the ones i care for, and thats all you. Sorry but thats me...................

the joke

Precisely...................it was a joke....W. understood it as such......once again posters read far too much into a simple post...meant as nothing more than that.

I don't belong to any pack, never was, never led a pack...etc...so how can a message on a board be construed as such? Particularly when there aint a pack on the board....male or....female(?)

its the comments like, you belong in the kitchen, or go get me a beer, or are my clothes washed yet?

I think such comments from guys aren't macho at all. I find such men comparable to babies actually. - yes guys, I'm going straight for your throats as usual! ;p - but seriously, I don't get it, what's so macho about you as a man being unable to do something simple as washing your clothes or cooking? or making comments like ''who's wearing a blouse?'' - joke or not, it just makes you look a little simple - sorry!

but really patrycja, I don't know where you live, or how old you are, but around here, you'll find no guy - my age, older men I don't know - who says you belong in the kitchen?

serious, I think some girls should ease in a little on the whole feminism thing. there's still a lot to be changed, but I do want to say that some guys just really do hard work, and that if the girl is a part-timer she should pick up on domestic tasks a little more than the man.

or vice versa. that's the only thing I find unreasonable from some girls, they would probably expect me to share the tasks 50-50 - which I wouldn't mind because right now I do everything myself! - but most girls around here work for like 20-30 hours a week, and still tell guys like me we should be able to do more at home.

not generalising alright? fair is fair, you girls here seem a reasonable sort.

The dissenting member = Wolfie’s comment that women are equals.

Actually Wolfie didn't comment that women are equal, he said that women are better than men.
Here is where he received the neutering comment:

Quoting: wolfie

Men and woman today are equals in the house and outside as well, women are more better at coping with stress then most men.

Actually I agree with rest of his opinions.

But it wasn't a joke aimed at you M, so take all the offence you want.........so we all have different opinions...........and thats what they are...only opinions...backed up by what research etc........?

His post seemed to be pandering to the alpha females of the board......thats all.....

I wish I had not used your joke to illustrate my argument. I was trying to illustrate my argument, and I forgot how it might affect you, Frank. I can sometimes get lost in my ideas and forget the impact on people. I did not mean to express any disrespect towards your opinion. And I don't agree with the insults you are getting. I do feel responsible for what is happening.

Jack London is my favorite writer. I read most of his books. I have them in Polish and English. I was about 11 when I read "Zew Krwi."
