all you americans should be digging deep in them pockets and sending your $$$ to the needy of the north... this is what you do... nows your chance...

then again... they are british and therefore as hard as they come, especially as they are norveners, and so dont actually need anybody's help...

A month's worth of rain in a day. At least three dead. Threat of a 35 acre reservior bursting through a suspect dam. Huge destruction of property. It's quite serious. The only good news is that Sheffield may have to be knocked down and rebuilt.... (Yes I'm being facetious but it is a dump)

Bad news is one of the flooded properties is soon to be occupied by one of the SZ clan when he goes back to uni next term

Yes we are a generous bunch, especially when it comes from the private sector.....I would help in anyway I could, be it money, clothing or other staples that were needed.

You are really sweet, but insurance will cover it and in many cases people will end up with better than they had before (if they have a good loss assessor)

Okay Im bringing this back up to the top, since the Army has now become involved in the UK, some places in the UK have no running water and are relying on bottled water..and they are worried about raw sewage and the problems that can cause.

Its a grim nightmare Amathyst. If you've not read it already then see bbc.co.uk news site there's a lot on there for reading.

I spoke on another thread about a similar situation here in Wroclaw ten years ago.
The people of England, involved in the flooding, really do have my understanding.

I remember you talking about it. I think here we've all just had a major jolt because now its not just flooding, its beginning to be about people not having water to drink or food to eat in some places. There's 6 flood warnings still in place in England so its not easing off any. There just doesn't seem to be an end to it at the moment.

350, 000 people without water, some will not get any for another week. must be awful, even though we have water we are being advised to boil our water before using it, as it cannot be gautanteed not to be contaminated. there have also been land slides in my area, some roads and bridges have been damaged. I can't imagine how much this will affect the price of produce. Aren't there a lot of farms in the north?

yes and they have already mentioned this on the t.v., well done Mr Z :) wheat crops are the worst hit - which means bread will increase in price along with other associated products.
