I think it is around £118. If you have a T.V. you have one.
It funds the BBC.

Yes it is a bad joke.

No, it's a large fee you have to pay every year to keep the BBC as it is. It has no advertisements on it and is not a commercial television station.

everyone with a tv (whether you watch the bbc or not ) has to pay it..........unless you are over 90 or something like that :(

Wow. Ive never heard of something like that. This has to make the BBC very very wealthy. So it's a tax to th network? It's just wrong IMO.

Darn right ! Even if you dont watch any BBC channels you have to pay. Just having a TV that is able to receive them is enough.
There are even detector vans that go round detecting whether you are watching TV - seriously !!!!

The argument "for" the license is that you dont get any commercials, the BBC commission nature documentaries, drama and impartial news reporting.
It has been in the news itself lately for rigged phone in competitions and for making up statistics on its political programmes - bringing its integrity into question.

And they have crap sports coverage !!!

We have "Public Television" but it is supported by donations.....we are not required to "pay" for it.

What about Ireland, Scotland and Whales

All part of the UK so money is from the same fund.

It is kind of annoying when UK citizens always put their hands in their pockets to assist other countries in need at times of disaster and now we seem to be going this alone, yes those countries are usually worse off in terms of wealth etc but we need help!

Tonight I am sitting in my warm house, I've got a nice warm bed to crawl into soon, I've been to work and I've been for a couple of drinks after. I've a fridge full of food and water, I've a hot shower waiting for me in the morning. Yet only a couple of hundred miles away - its the exact opposite.
