Florida Polish Church excitement

OH I'm so excited!! I found out theres a Polish Church down the street!!! Finally I can listen to polish rambling instead of spanish!!! I'm going to be in heaven! lol

watch out, maybe soon u will hear only latine there o.O

ha i doubt there would be a latina in a whole polish service...they differnt ones after that one....but that is like in polish..........

No offense my dear, but how can anybody get excited about church, religion is the cause of a lot of the worlds problems.

We learn Latin in Europe usually in Catholic schools, personally I found it a complete waste of time and hated every minute of it, but now Im older I find it sometimes can be amusing!

I had four years of Latin, and found it very helpful when traveling in Italy.
It's also helpful in figuring out BIG words.... Many English words have Latin words in them.

Latin is so hard for me. I never had problems with learning foreign languages but this one is just horrible! On my lessons i have only some grammar stuff and its hard to remember all rules:( I cant even say "nice to meet u" in latin, although i know what ACI is oO

I'm not sure, but in my mind I would think it is easier to learn Latin if one's native language is English.... since so many of the words have Latin words in them.
I cant seem to learn Polish, (not that I've tried too hard), but I can't seem to get the sounds and the letters straightened out.

about church... where do our priest get the authority, or position.. from the bible? I always get confused here. Do you find anywhere in the bible about papacy or priesthood? about the Holy Father. ??

You are completely correct there, a lot of legal terms are in latin and a hell of a lot of words we use in every day life.

Oooh I wish I were better at this, but here goes. The Bible does outline some of the "positions" needed in a church, but it doesn't give anyone "power" over anyone else. I think your question must have been similar to what Martin Luther was thinking back in 1517 when he started "The Reformation" of the church. Basically he had a problem with man made rules and thought the message of the Bible was getting lost in ceremony. The message of the Bible is fairly simple and clear, Salvation is obtained through faith in Christ and what he accomplished for us on the cross. Luther wanted to teach what the Bible said and found he couldn't do it in the Catholic Church. I think the Catholic Church has changed a lot since the 1500's, but the last mass I attended was in Polish, so I didn't understand a word! Though I could tell what was going on because the mass was just like I remember from when I was a kid :-) BTW, the churches in Poland are absolutely beautiful!!!

magda09, the system of priesthood that exists today is entirely different than what is found in the Bible. Today's priesthood was established by the Catholic Church and that's where their authority comes from.

Try reading Exodus 28 in the Bible, and Exodus 29:9. They describe the establishment of the original priesthood. Hebrews 7:5 explains that the priesthood belongs only to the descendants of Levi. Hebrews 9 explains why the system of priesthood is no longer necessary. I hope that helps.

I am talking about the New Testament. And yes, Exodus does talk about the priest, but it is for Judaism, not Christianity.

It clearly speaks about the Priesthood as a symbolic meaning towards all the Law Bringers of God (e.g. the Messengers of God or The Prophets). These come from Abrahams ancestry basically.

The other parts of the Gospel which I mentioned ... testify to the fakeness of the modern priest and their lack of value is abvious. Also those ancient priests who were not LAW BRINGERS. They were nothing ... just no where in any writings.

So yes.. the system of priest is not only 'no longer neccessary'... but it was no the way it was signified in the Bible. It is speaking of the Prophets as priests of High priests... (for example...Daniel a Priest... and Christ a High Priest....however they are prophets....but they are the law bringing priests aswell...from the ancestry of Abrahams lions, which are his decendants).

Actualy the bible says we are all priests. We are all functioning on the priesthood of Christ. We are to be examples of him.
Also the priesthood in the old testament is talking about jews, we are not jews and these priests served in the temple, of the tent, which is part of the jewish temple. Since Christ came and died for us we no longer need the priests of that time since Jesus is the temple. We worship him, not any man.
