Poland is attracting some of the world's biggest and best-known technology companies because it can offer a skilled workforce, reduced salary costs, efficient working practices and easy access to the industrial hubs of western Europe. Below are just some of the household names that have decided to set up software development centres in Poland.

Samsung to open mobile technology centre in Warsaw
(...)
IBM software lab in Cracow
(...)
Microsoft Innovation Centre in Poznan
(...)
Motorola chose Cracow for its software development centre
(...)
Hewlett-Packard in Poland
(...)
Siemens Software Development Centre
(...)

"If there is something we are not able to do more effectively, cheaper and better than our competitors... we should employ somebody else to do it." Henry Ford, 1923

Global giant Motorola chose Cracow as the location of its first European software development centre. The decision was made after analysis of many potential sites in Europe and was based on geographical situation, access to communications and the availability of highly-qualified personnel and universities. Since the Cracow centre was established, it has become Motorola's leading software development centre and has received the highest ranking given by the Software Engineering Institute of the United States, a leading software quality authority.

Hmm, my post disappeared. Ah well, I basically said that I hope strong partnerships are forged and that Poland asserts itself as a leader in these fields.

I just decided to create new topic.

so here is new interesting article about reasons of investments in Poland.

More international corporations are opening their financial/accounting and research-and-development centers for advanced technology in Poland.

In the near future, Poland may well become a key destination for companies moving their service centers from Western Europe. U.S. investment bank Merrill Lynch has recognized Poland as a highly attractive location for foreign investment in the service sector. Merrill Lynch analysts say many foreign companies will want to hire Polish workers, who are often better educated than their Western counterparts.

The high level of investor interest in Poland was confirmed a year ago in a report by McKinsey company, Poland: A European Service Center. Against the background of other countries in the region, Poland boasts the largest number of educational centers that train the largest number of college graduates.

I think these are tangible signs of classic ruggedness amongst the Poles to not be accepted as a 'backward' country. There is vast potential here and investors are realising this. The big problem lies in the perception of Poles. The skills are undoubtedly here in abundance but the recognition of this is the key. The tide is turning :)

U just have to keep throwing them up and encouraging discussion. Poland is a golden bet for American firms. In Scotland, we are lucky to have a combination of natural resource-based industries and we attract a lot of investment. I hope Poland can do likewise.

Why is it worthwhile for this sector’s investors to invest in Poland? On one hand the steadily growing market and increase in national demand is a sufficient reason. However, on the other hand, the global corporations, e.g.: Microsoft, HP, Google, Oracle, IBM and SAP have all confirmed by their presence, that Poland is not only of increasing significance as a market to sell their products and services in. The reason for Poland’s success in the rapidly increasing sector for IT services, is above all the availability of personnel. Our unique and most precious resource is people, that are still available and Polish specialists are increasingly providing services to foreign clients.

An equally important factor leading to Poland’s international recognition in IT, is the quality of the services provided and the level of creativity, which often exceeds the expectations of employers. Young Polish IT specialists year after year win top places in international programming competitions, such as ACM, the Imagine Cup and Top Coder.

I am a great fan of Poland. it is a great country and DTZ has tipped Poland as being a tiger economy with excelerated growth for the next ten years
I am very amused by the McKinsey report 'how about just saying that Poland is four times bigger than any other country in CEE consequently they have more doctors, vets, students, trapeze artists, watch repairers and just about anything else than any of their neighbours' in fact they will have four times more at least
