Aronia?

Another educated poster already explained it to you.

4 eigner:I'm trying to help you to understand that produce and product are two different things

Not necessarily.

Stores in Polish border towns and cities are sieged by shoppers from neighbouring countries. Lithuanians, Belarussians, Ukrainians in the east and Czechs, Slovaks in the south prefer to go shopping in Poland to have good value for money. They buy out everything. In northern city of Białystok shops display notices/ads in Belarussian.

why do polish people (atleast the few that i know) think that all things made polish are better..

They are right. Why should they buy Swiss chocolate if Polish is equally good?

We have already talked about plum in chocolate pralines, now more from Solidarność:

To say that Polish chocolate is equally as good as Swiss is a joke, its not even as
good as cadburys

For your information making chocolate is not magic.
With the right ingredients they all taste the same, may it be in the UK, Switzerland or Poland.
Saying that the Swiss or Belgians found the philosophers stone of making chocolate is a myth.

You rely on stereotypes too much. :):):):)

Polish hand-painted Christmas tree baubles are certainly a hit in the USA and elsewhere: and more: wroclaw.olx.pl/bombki-na-choinke-iid-49544272

Yes, the one which brings fondle memories of the past. It was created in mid 1960s.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess, although for most people it's red wine.

Polish pickles and cakes would be my choice (not together, unless pregnant, which would be difficult for me).

You are wrong :) ONLY majonez ketrzynski

you beat me to it, best mayo on the planet :))

and a few of my favourites:

addictive chocolate rum truffles

Polish truffles available in Tescos

barszcz

it's pretty much a Christmas dish but I'm a big fan

draze

love these chocolate coconut drops

I get these in bulk, it's an acquired taste (and apparently smell too lol)

prazynki

my grandma used to make these but you can buy them in the shop

But ok ... if you ask ... this summer I found some astonishing tomatoes in Poland.

Yes, it was already said here that Polish fresh fruit and veg taste much better than their foreign counterparts.

Hahaha yes, fond, of course. :):):)

Polish pickles

I can recommend pickled mushrooms.

The best value for money is noble podgrzybek mushrooms by Rolnik - a giant jar with a lot of stuff inside for only 15 zlotys. Delicious!

If not, try other producers, there are plenty of them.

I think you are lavishing praise on me there, I doubt I made you chuckle quite as much, but hope you did at least get a smile from thoughts of fondling and doing the dishes. It's fairly rare for detergents to lead to breathless encounters, but you just never know.

I will try the pickled mushrooms, thanks for the tip :o)

Here in Russia it's hard to see something Polish (except old movies and books). May be some cosmetics? Not sure. Fortunately I have Polish rubber keyboard (MEDIA-TECH Polska Sp. z.o.o., Halinow, Poland), made in China though. It's horrible.

How can you say:" polish" if is is made in China . If there is a name of polish ltd comp. it means it has been imported by polish distributor and sold to third country . Find products with a sign- made in Poland . Russian government does not promote polish products rather imposes many restrictions on our products unknown to other EU countries so polish companies don`t sell too much on russian market . Russians want to have surplus in export/ import revenue with Poland to show some supremacy , but it is biased as Russians sell mainly natural resources to Poland but buy highly processed products from Poland . It was very naive of Russians to impose a ban on our meat products for years and buying more expensive meat from other UE cpountries while other highly developed were happily consuming polish chicken ( an example of russian way ), haha. When will they grow up ?

Polish Juices are lovely, even the beetroot and apple variety and beer obviously. I generally only drink Polish beer, interestingly enough lots of my old mates from my old pub here in the UK now drink Tyskie in the pub.

I heard about Polish-grown apples exported to Russia. But there are more things of course: retailpoland.com/120772/Polish-exports-to-Russia-up-407-in- January-February-2012.shtml

Polish companies exported goods to Russia worth $1.45bn (€1.09bn) in the first two months of 2012, 40.7% more than in the same period of 2011, according to Central Statistical Office (GUS). The majority of goods exported to Russia from Poland include machine and auto parts, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, hygienic products, chemical products, vehicles, machines, and foodstuffs.

Fortunately I have Polish rubber keyboard (MEDIA-TECH Polska Sp. z.o.o., Halinow, Poland), made in China though. It's horrible.

I imagine any rubber keyboard is horrible. :):):):)

Aaah, yes, we forgot about them. Thanks. And indeed, beetroot juice is Polish specialty, both regular and fermented.

Regular by Hortex, Krakus.

Polish companies exported goods to Russia worth $1.45bn (€1.09bn)

But Polish brands are almost unknown here anyway. May be $1.45bn is not enough. May be exported goods are non-Polish brands, like Opel/Ford/Chevrolet cars.

Exactly. I don`t buy cars too often, so it means I hardly ever buy German, French or British products. But it doesn`t mean they are not in the market.

PS. Sorry. A few years ago my wife bought a German pencil sharpener. We still use it.

Oh, yes, indeed! I remember reading a few articles about Polish hit yachts.

business.inquirer.net/6893/smooth-sailing-for-made-in-poland-yachts

GDANSK - The contrast is as stark as it is improbable: a dazzling, brand-new super yacht glides across the harbour of the communist-era Gdansk Shipyard, the birthplace of new Poland but the epitome of industrial decay.

Sleek, sophisticated, luxurious and competitively priced Polish yachts are reinventing the country's all-but-defunct ship-building industry with a sporty capitalist edge.
[...]
In Poland, "we put more soul into our yachts - that's how I see it," he said.

I mentioned apples before, one of fruit exported massively to Russia, but I didn`t know it is so immense:

Russia remains the main export market for Polish apples.
Poland, the biggest apple producer and exporter in the EU, has been giving preference to export apples to the Russian Federation for many years.
In the season 2011/12, Poland shipped to Russia almost 500,000 tonnes of apples that accounted for the share of 60% of the total export volume. At the same time, Polish exports to the EU countries were 8 times lower (67,000 tonnes).

If you have a coal mine under yuor house, you may want to get yourself a nice mining system from one of Polish producers of such stuff, e.g., Famur

Foreign sausage, compared to Polish one, is shyt.

Polish country or home-made sausage:

Some are good, some are ok, some are really really bad. I have some gritty ligament ridden sausages while in Poland.
Never ever found a decent polish burger, I would normally make them myself if I needed to. Pork was good, chicken depends where you go. Lamb is good the closer you are to the mountains. Do they mature beef after slaughtering?

Don't know if it is a polish invention, but it's soooooo gooooooood! Placek po węgiersku.

11 Jan 2013 #87
"Placek po węgiersku" - "Hungarian-style cake" or just "Hungarian pie" is Hungarian dish as its English name may suggest :) However there is a very similar Polish dish called "Placek po zbójnicku" ("Highwayman cake") definitely worth tasting.
Satchkat - | 20
11 Jan 2013 #88
karol, it's Hungarian potato pancake if anything, not pie or cake as you suggested. Also, it hasn't got much to do with Hungary despite its name - it's only because of using goulash that is a traditional Hungarian dish, but the whole things itself originates from PL. It also goes by the name of gypsy-style pancake.

One of those things that's good if it's made well and dreadful if it's made badly. Most restaurants don't take much pride in it and I've more often than not had it served Iuke warm and over salted/under seasoned.

It comes into it's own when it's home cooked (and piping hot).
