Alcohol Prices for Wedding in Warsaw

Hi,

This is my first post, so please bare with me.

I am getting married in August, and we are looking for suppliers of Alcohol as we want drink to be free for all guests.

Does anybody know how I can get drink directly from suppliers or in the same price region as that that the bars/pubs/restaurants etc buy for. We will be buying a good amount, we think about 14 Kegs of Zywiec, 100 bottles of Vodka, a number of bottles of Jameson Whisky, Tia Maria, Gin, Rum, Kaluha etc, so obviously wish to buy at cost price if possible. Also wine is turning out to be a bit of a problem. Most places take between 50% to 90% margin per bottle which is robbery...

Can anyone help with this??

All i can say is, try find a whole sale outlet, many small bars use them for sertain supplys

If you or your partner speak Polish i would do some Google'in and try find somthing around Warsaw.

I dought you will beable to get direct from the supplyer....

As for wine, the same as above,

Be aware that the supply of sertain sprits is limited in PL for example Barcardi is the most comon rum, Havana is expensive (You can get Tesco own brand!)... plus i have never seen Kaluha, but you can get Tia Maria

If you are driving to PL you could always pick up some wine in France :)

Get the wine from France. Or have somebody bring it for you. And forget about Zywiec: get Krolewski instead. It's Warsaw's local beer and both cheaper and far better than Zywiec.

Get in touch with 'Stock'. They do amazing prices for Vodka and if you can't collect them. They sort out del for you. They are based in Lublin. They speak English there too.

14 kegs of Zywiec... Do you mean UK 11 Gallon Kegs or 6.5 Gallon which they generally use in bars here? That's about 1150 pints! (in UK kegs) which seems a lot, unless your Irish or Scottish?? delphiandomine: I've got a funny feeling Van Gogh has it for some reason... Really! that's cool, i love Kaluha I'm making my own at the moment :)

Yeah, we were thinking of doing this (flying to France and picking up wine from there), but time is limited. I am restricted with work and time off etc, but may have to go this route... Yes I am Irish, and bringing around 150 people from Ireland, so I'm hoping that 1150 pints would be enough. Thanks for the advice. P

My Irish cousin got married in Wroclaw a few years ago. 80 Irish, 40 Poles attended. He got 3 kegs of beer of Okocim (personally I think it's pisswater) and my family are sows for the beer. They had enough even for a small boat party the next day. He also bought a **** load of spirits which hardly anyone drank. When the Irish got pissed they just made some vodka, barcadi and coke so he ended up with a huge amount left over. I'm getting married in July also in Warsaw and was wondering the same about cheap sources of alcohol. Lots of people told me though that the wholesale prices are not that different to the big retailer prices. I guess it adds up if your buying lots. Maybe you should try the Konstancin brewery (non-pasteurised beer) http://www.browar-konstancin.pl/index.php/ida/1/ as it's near Warsaw and I hear it's savage. Ciechan is a great quality beer too. 150 from Ireland, jaysus, that's some crew. If you're bringing an Irish musician make sure his backing tracks match whatever system your sala na wesele has. My cousin had this problem.

Last summer i went to a Polish/Irish Wedding, they decided that they would try keep the alcohol as traditional as possible so bought loads of vodka but they also got 6 cases of bottled beer, it turned out most people just drank vodka because all the Poles wanted to drink in the traditional way so everyone did!

Everyone had a great night, the only regrets was the people who mixed their beer and vodka.. mega hang over, soon sorted with a couple of vodkas at breakfast!

So, just keep it simple! everyone will have a great time!

Ciechan is a great quality beer too. Konstancin beer is indeed a nice drop of beer. But Ciechan is a step up in quality. Both give much smaller hangovers than Zywiec (or any of the large scale beers).

In that case, make sure you get the right vodka: the wrong vodka can give you a hangover you'll want to die from. Steer well clear of Bols and Smirnoff, don't even thing about touching any of the cheaper labels. Personally I'd be looking at Wyborowa but your mileage may vary. The best thing to do is to get roaring drunk on a few types and then buy 100 bottles of whatever gave you the least worst hangover.

Good theory Harry, I look forward to it (not the hangover part of it)!! Will definately be going for a legit POLISH vodka, and none of the crap that we have in Ireland. Anyone have any other Vodka suggestions??

well paddyr can u pm me let us know how ya got on , in the same boat next year , an need to get few bits sorted , drink to buy wholsale or jus run with the hotel deal music, looking for mix of both bit of polish an bit of irish , maybe trad n few usual weddings songs english speaking priest, have the venue nailed i think n church , just need bit direction on the above , thanks in advance

It is good Harry, I always take SIWUCHA as presents to my friends outside of Poland, advise them to stick it in the freezer for two days then crack open, as it has a cork stopper it is normally polished off in a single sitting, most people just can't get enough.

It is a great gift but I used to find that it gave fairly nasty hangovers after anything more than half a bottle.
