The best vodka is probably Chopin vodka although I personally recommend Pan Tadeusz. It depends on where u r based on England but it should be quite easy to get ur hands on

That'd be spiritus, not vodka. Vodka here is the same, strength-wise, 40%. Germany will have a fair bit of Polish vodka. Stripping and running around the place can happen through beer, believe me, I've seen people do it

Belvedere, Chopin, Pan Tadeusz usually come in a nice presentation box and the bottles have a decorative pattern.

If you google 'belvedere vodka', for example, you might find outlets in Germany.

- I would recommend Belvedere. The bottle is beautiful too - long and thin, with the inward picture of the Warsaw Belweder palace (Baroque style), magnified by the liquid. No to cyk i sto lat!

I would gladly have an old, regular Polish Żytnia, Stołowa, or Vistula (not available in the US).

I would have to agree. I gave a bottle to some very close friends at Christmas, and hope to receive an invitation to help them crack it open!

- Are there any neutral spots nowadays? All's so politicised. Just kiddin.' I should be in Canada in the summer, otherwise we can meet in Poland (Bialystok, for instance?), whenever you're visiting, or in Cork, Ireland. Cheers, mate. I'm really looking forward.

This is a cheap to mid-priced vodka, which I'm quite happy to drink. I don't think you will find it listed under 'the best vodka".
You have a problem because... it's all according to taste.

wait for a second opinion.

Have you checked the vodka drinking thread ?

- I've never tried this one. But, I expect, it can't be bad; I have never met with any bad Polish vodka. I suspect no Polish vodka can ever be as bad as e.g. Smirnoff.
What do you think, Wroclaw?

It's a long time since I've had Smirnoff. I seem to remember it having no strength and being pretty ordinary.

It is true that almost any Polish vodka is good.

I think Bigbaldski has a problem between: presentation, quality and availability.

Bigbaldski,

Buy a small bottle of something and if you like it buy a big bottle for your father.

- Much praised in ads, but disgusting to drink, to my taste. Some of the real Russian vodka (which Smirnoff isn't), e.g. Stolichnaya, is very good, I must say. Whenever I have vodka (it doesn't happen too often, Scotch - real Scotch, from Scotland, and Irish whiskey, esp. Jameson, being my favs), I reach for either Polish or Russian vodka.

Cheers, my Polish, Irish and Brit brothers.

Quite a few, Belvedere, Chopin, and of course Zumbrowska. You could also go Russian with Stolichnaya Elit (very expensive) and Russian Standard.

Żubrówka I think you mean. It's more for drinking with apple juice, rather than being a vodka for connosieurs.

Zubrowka beat out Wyborowa in the wodka poll by only a slim margin

Is Sobieski vodka popular in Poland?

Because its become a big seller in the bars here in Chicago now, they do alot of advertising with the Sobieski girls:) and on billboards etc....

Im just wondering if its really that popular in Poland or a clever advertising campaign?

I tired it and vodka tastes all the same to me,,,Daj mi Piwo:)

I'd go as far as to say that Sobieski would be the most popularly bought vodka here. It's so cheap for what you get. It doesn't have the image of outright cheapness and the harsh associations that come with it. The lightweights can always have a chaser, mix it up with some blackcurrant juice.

That must be why it does well in the bars with the prices going up all over the place.

The sobieski girls are hot!!! They show up at the polish bars and give away shooters:)

I can imagine those Sobieski girls :) There are Lynx (Axe) girls here too. They dress up in black and spray you with deodorant cans. Very sexy!
