Where can I buy lamb in Poland?

How difficult is it to find Lamb in Poland....apart from the major cities there's none.

Anyone/Anywhere a caterer I can order from??????????????

Lot of sheep in Zakopane, but they milk them.

I only need a few legs of lamb....do you think a few lambs can do with three legs instead of four?

I work part time in the National Veterinary Research Institute here in Pulawy, and last year I mentioned to one of the professors that I miss eating lamb meat.
He phoned me the next day and said that if I came to his house he would have a surprise for me, and I went to his house the next day and he had found a 30 kilo lamb that he had just slaughtered and presented it to me saying it was a present.

After not having lamb for four years I was so happy and spent the next two months eating it.
One nervous thought occurred to me though was where he got it from, and whether it was a reject from one of the research projects that the institute does, but he reassured me that it was not.

The only region that I have seen sheep farmed intensively is as krysia says in the Zakopane region, and I have seen it on the menu of many Zakopane restaurants.
I guess if you are going to find it depending on where you located, is to try some of the butchers in the region.

My father-in-law used to farm them for the Italian market, and they used to take them at 15 to 20 kilos, but he stopped this 12 years ago, and I really don't know if this is still going on somewhere, but it's worth trying to find out.

Funnily enough....a contact has just put me in touch with a owner of an Italian restaurant in Warsaw (San lorenzo's) who can buy some in for me...........so long winded though, p.s if you do get another carcass take it to the vet....i did that with some boar three weeks ago. She checks all the hunters catches etc for comsumption

I keep hearing stories from someone at work whose lady friend kept a lamb as a pet. It used to live in the house and follow her round like a puppy. She went away over Christmas and left it with a nearby equestrian centre. Unfortunately the shock of real life, combined with a diet of just grass (the poor thing hadn't been weaned off bottle-feeding yet) led to it's untimely demise.

Wrong country, and there's none of it available for eating, but I just thought I'd throw that little (sad) story into the mix. A previous thread I started highlighted the unpopularity of lamb in Poland.

What did they do with the lamb at the equestrian centre..........That's one available.

Sent it for a post-mortem, followed by cremation

Cremation looks like a better word than incineration when talking about someone's pet.
Somebody was unpopular after the sad news was broken - he tried to share a lamb rogon josh with the distraught owner.

Curry......mmm. that's another subject.....a couple of good places in Warsaw...

You know i'm sure all of Poland would love curry, if force fed it for a couple of weeks.

Bring on the Indian labourers please...food will follow.

there is a local butcher in Wroclaw that supplies Lamb, had some lovely chops just last night.

Very difficult to find lamb in Gdansk but from time to time a local shop can get it for me. It's just not very popular in Poland. I need a leg or two for dinner and curry for a party I'm having in mid April. My Polish friends tell me the only time they eat lamb is when they're at my flat.
