OKOCIM PORTER BETTER THAN GUINNESS STOUT?

Does anyone agree that cold Okocim Porter beats Guinness Stout hands down for refreshing flavour, robustness, body and overall enjoyment, not to mention price?

It's sort of like comparing apples and oranges.
IMHO there is a huge difference between Polish Porter and British Stout. First of all, Polish Porter (as opposed to British Porter) is a lager (yeast-wise) and British Stout is an ale so therefore it is an entirely different category of beer. Second of all, Porter gets it's darkness from using darker malts, and Stout uses roasted malts .

Third of all, if you are tasting beers such as Stouts and Porters, that means you have an above average sense of taste, so keep on tasting, keep on experimenting, keep on rocking my friend. Good luck to you.

I heard that Okocim and Zywiec are now being brewed by Heineken I dont know if its true?

There is a very big difference in a pint of Guinness sold in Ireland, than one sold in another country there is just no comparison..any other stout or porter is just a poor imitation :)

When I was in Ireland the Guinness tasted 10 times better than what they give us here in America. The same with Heinekin I cant stand it, but when I was in Amsterdam it was delicous?

sledz: When I was in Ireland the Guinness tasted 10 times yes, the only disadvantages are ...it takes about 5 minutes to pour a pint.. and one is never enough. Worth the wait tho:)

I`ll wait:) I went to this pub in Waterford and the bartender must of heard my accent or the way I was dressed but he new I was a yank and he tried to give me a Budweiser! woooo.... I had to stop that train from coming at me American beers are P*** compared to European beers:)

sledz: American beers are P*** compared to European beers:) Beers or lagers on main land Europe are much better than Uk beers too....probably stronger, and don't have the laws that we have in this country...that tells us, what ingredients the brewers , can or cannot, put into their brewing process

Stout, such as Guinness, was a British innovation in brewing although it has become a much stronger tradition in Ireland (Guinness, Murphy's, etc.) rather than Britain (Mackeson's...) I don't know much about Polish Porter, although I did try one that was a bit like trying to drink tar. It wasn't Okocim.

I have tried a Polish porter (Black Boss Porter) last year, will never go back to regular beer. Guiness does nothing for me as it has low %. I have not tried Okocim porter, but I did try Zywiec porter, but to me Black Boss porter is still king, although many disagree with me on that. To me it's like drinking chocolate milk that makes you feel good. Hopefully they will start making it again?

Anyone ever try Browar Jabłonowo's Belfast dark beer? Jabłonowo lagers got bad-mouthed on PF, but I personally found Belfast quite acceptable. Dunno how authentic it is, because I'm UK and Irish brews are not my specdiality.

Between the two beers ,I think the Okocim Porter beats the Stout by just a little !------here is my experience comparing the two. First, the beer was deep chestnut brown, and thick with it, almost as opaque as Guinness Extra Stout. Next, the smell was rich with dark, ripe, pit-fruit: plums, prunes. Finally, when I took a sip, it was like sunrise of a dark star: my mouth filled with malt power and twisting skeins of those rich prune notes, sweet as pastry but not tooth-aching like candy, a mellow pillow of powerful sensation. There was a strong thread of anise through the beer that lasted right through the finish, taking the cloying edge off quite nicely

I will look out for it, I like to try new beers.

I find that Okocim Tyskie and Zywiec all taste roughly the same, well after a few anyway.
I like Żubr, it has a very distinctive taste, smoky not like the typical beers.
But I have yet to find a bar with Żubr on tap, Okocim Tyskie and Zywiec seemed to have cornered the market, offering publicans great deals to sell only their beer.

I love guiness!

It's one of the few things I miss from the UK. I know you can get it in Warszawa etc. but I live in a small town and it's not available here on draught.

Thank god the local Tesco's has started stocking the 'draught pour tins' It's a close approximation of the real thing (brewed in Dublin as well).

Comparing a porter to a stout makes no sense. I tried porter due to the lack of guiness but it's really sickly. Then again I'm a lifelong stout fan.

Beer over here is OK but it's just 'so gassy'. The first two or three pints of guiness slip down so smoothly (and quickly if you have the desire). If I tried to drink a litre of zywiec straight down I think I'd explode.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed - Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams.
