Last week, on a rainy Friday I decided to cook goł±bki for the very first time. :) The result was pretty good and got the thumbs up from my Polish friends. I used too much rice (I never can measure it right) and they could have been wrapped tighter! I also made a tomato sauce when I would have preferred a mushroom one. :) Next I'll try to make them without meat for a friend who is vegetarian.

I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread for people to post pictures of the Polish food they cooked so please share your culinary talents with us! :)

So I thought I would share my goł±bki with you...

Just out the oven!

It's a bit of a "PD style" sauce but it's similar to

this one here. I didn't use bacon, cheese or the mushrooms though. :)

Thanks pgt.

Question: what is the best way to re-heat them?

In the oven ? That's what we did. Mind you we never had much left.

Seems like a good idea. Someone else told me to fry them a little or grill them. I think oven is better though. :)

I'll post more pictures when I make more. So I hope to see a few other pictures on here ;)

not mine, but i would love to have some of these:

Lir  Sep 9, 08, 15:22    #9
If you fry them then they will go soggy :( grilling them may not reheat evenly. Putting them in the oven should work, and they can be crisped up a bit more too....makes them so tasty and you of course have the sauce to go over them as well :)

I love kotleti.......my Mom liked making them a lot too :)

The picture looks like kotleti ?

can't think what else they would be really ?

We had mashed potatoes with our kotleti and the fat they were fried in was used to pour a little bit in the middle of the poatoes <only a tiny bit and My Mom used oil>

We had fresh home grown carrots with our kotleti and sometimes home grown green beans too......

I am starving hungry now :)

Yes I can see what they are now.........just can't remember the name that was used for them in our home. it will come to me another time though :)

we called it sznycle...sort of like a baby meatloaf. She served it with cucumber salad and boiled potatoes. Haven't had that since I was a kid.

Talking about the mizeria. I've seen some nice looking mizerias, but this mizeria is greenish and ...sorry, still looks like żygi.

if it's to be tasty the cucumber slices have to be thin and thus it looks like the above. thick sliced mizeria just isn't it.

They were quite difficult and it took me a while but I wanted to cook them because I liked the idea of them. I'm glad they look good, thanks. :) I didn't look at any pictures of them until after I cooked (and eaten some of) them. It was a good way to spend a rainy Friday afternoon. :)
