Are there any real kebab shops in Gdansk?

So far I've only found kebeb shops that sell pork or chicken kebabs. Are there any shops that sell lamb kebabs-the real ones?

Are there any shops that sell lamb kebabs-the real ones? Probably not. Lamb and mutton is very expensive in Poland.

pork Aren't Muslim Turks working in those Kebab Shops not even suppose to touch pork? Here in the States fast food shops run my Muslims don't. For instance bacon is replaced by turkey bacon.

In Krakow kebab shops are absolutely everywhere which is a pity because i would prefer zapiekanki shops . Moreover they do not serve lamb kebab, as a matter of fact there is no lamb available in Poland at a butcher's or supermarket that i know of.

Lamb is available but it's not easy to find. Try hypermarket deep freeze sections, where you might find a few scrag-ends from New Zealand at ridiculous prices. Another option is to ask around. Some butchers sometimes have a little mutton. I've just finished my Sunday breakfast of curried mutton, as it happens. I bought the meat a couple of weeks ago for 15PLN/kg.

Lamb is available in Hala Targowa in Gdansk, either fresh-sometimes-or frozen New Zealand leg of lamb, but I haven't found it in a kebab shop. I know that lamb's not popular in Poland, but I was hoping. Oh well.

Lamb is easy enough to get in Warsaw at better supermarkets. Good restaurants alo often serve it. I notice that most central Warsaw kebeb shops now have proper lamb kebabs.

I expect most Poles up here in the sticks believe they already have the 'real' type of kebab ... so wouldn't hold my breath for lamb appearing on the spits.

I was back in Ireland last week and it was a treat to walk into a butchers and see a wide selection of everything from lamb cuts to decent beef. sigh.

Oops, the latest news is that two Poles were seriosuly injured by Turkish owners with a carving knife in a kebab outlet in Gdańsk. http://www.fakt.pl/Krwawa-jatka-w-kebabie-,artykuly,110211,1.html

This sort of thing usually happens when a bunch of guys who have been drinking go into some takeaway and start giving a load of abuse to the staff and owners...

Well , the only other explanation i can think of is that these Turks wait in ther shops armed and ready to attack clients... does not make good business sense....?

If this was the States they would have been shot and everyone would be saying "well done that man for defending you proparty". btw,not a comment on the USA per se,just a perspective thing.

I was in that kebab shop 20 minutes before the stabbings occured. A friend of mine was walking by when it happened and gave first aid to one of the victims. We still don't know the whole story behind the incident so I won't share any rumors until they're substantiated. And btw, Alanya doesn't serve lamb kebabs. :(

I was in that kebab shop 20 minutes before the stabbings occured. A friend of mine was walking by when it happened and gave first aid to one of the victims.

My first thought when I read about that incident was about you and if you were involved. I imagined you had entered the place, demanded lamb kebab and when they couldn`t provide it, you started raging like a bull, throwing tables and chairs all over the shop.

Luckily, it is only my sick imagination. I am glad you are safe and sound.

Ive discovered another thing I like about Poland from this thread.................I dont like eating BABY sheep either :) Call me a softie but I always go for mutton,atleast theyve had a few summers of frolicking :)
