No matter who is behind that, it should be forbidden and handled like the Reinheitsgebot in Germany, wherein only water, barley and hops is allowed in beer.

MrBubbles:
Zywiec is basically Heineken these days

Zywiec tastes better than Heineken. In my opinion it's the best.

There are many good ones. One of the few I've tasted that I don't like is Tyskie (even though many people likes it).

Been living in Poland for coming on to 4 years now and when I first got here I obviously only drank the popular beers such as zywiec, tyskie and lech.

Went off them very quickly and only really continued to drink lech as it isn't too bad.

BUT the best beers I have tasted in Poland and the ones I continue to drink are:

Perła and Łomża, these really are great tasting beers and held in pretty high regard by beeradvocate.com

Highly recommend them!

Also "Specjal" but it's not readily available

Specjal is one of the Grupa Zywiec regional beers. It is readily available but only in its region: north and north-east Poland. I always get a couple of four-packs when I'm in the region.

One thing I can't understand is how some poles drink beer warm or hot. Two words that go great together are "Cold Beer".

I'm not really a beer drinker, but all the time I was in Canada we drank out beer at "room temperature," which is fine with me.

Of course, even with the heat on, the room temperature was around 11 degrees...

I am not a beer fan, but I did try some beers with fruit flavours - peach, cherry etc.
Those were nice. I noticed that most people seem to be fond of Zywiec.

Ciechan Pszeniczne for me & Ciechan Miodowe for the misses, wish they were easier to get hold of in Warsaw though.

Out of the usual Polish beers I still think Zywiec comes out on top.

Ciechan Miodowe is awesome. I tried some other honey beer (it was a dark one), but it was much too sweet; honey Ciechan is just right and still tastes like beer.
Also, yesterday, I tried Ciechan Porter and it's great, too. This one, for a change is quite bitter; it's got a very rich aroma, so the bitterness is just a part of the composition (unlike in just bitter mass-produced lagers). If you like Ciechan, you should try their Porter - I promise, it's not a girly beer like Miodowe.

I must try out all other Ciechans now.

Finally, there's some good, traditional stuff in the shops. I think it started being distributed all over Poland quite recently.

Have none of you people tried Zwierzyniec? It's superb! As is Lubelski Pils from the Perła Browary Lubelskie, also cracking!

I usually get mine at the organic food shop in Złoty Tarasy. Have also seen it in the organic food shop in Galeria Mokotow.

żubr and tatra

I always thought these were cheap-crappy ones for bums LOL…

Zywiec and Tyskie are the best I'd say.
