It was a nice surprise to me how delicious the Polish beer were, when I had my first trip to that country this summer. In my opinion, any Polish beer beats the bulk beers of my home country (& other Nordic countries) without much of contest (luckily we have some smaller breweries who can still produce some taste to the beer, but while they carry a price tag of EUR 2 and above per can, they can't compete in the mass market). While thirsty, Zubr was always a safe bet, as well as Special; Tyskie and Zywiec I can recall as good companion for food or all-purpose-beers, and a very well cooled Okocim was a good choice to have one with slightly more unique taste. I can just imagine how many good smaller brews there must be that I had no opportunity to test. Indeed, Poland reserves a more visible spot on the world map of the beers.

of course ciechan. I thought that it's very difficult to find it, but when I was looking around I found it. you can buy it in "Piotr i Pawel" in Blue City in Warsaw, in Auchan in Gorczewska (shop with organic food) and in many small shops.

moreover there are quite good "unknown" or not so popular polish beers in "Piotr i Pawel. " for ex "Piwo Zywe"

Honestly I don't like Żywiec, Lech, Tyskie etc, even Tatra (although it was really delicious beer). Now everything is in 2 breweries Heineken and Carsberg (I suppose). they changed recipes and it's not so good.

now it's very difficult to find "really" polish good beeer. only in smaller towns or villages. Zwierzyniec is good or Jurand, 1410 ;)

You should try Żubr. It's from Białystok, but you can find it all over Poland these days (I think).

Although not my favourite, I've just tried a good one called Złote Lwy (Golden Lions). It's from Gdańsk I think. Quite crisp!

Carling is not even that strong
wouldn't give it to kids, would ya

and yes sometimes I get a taste for a good bitter bear but actually rather Czech or German beers spring to mind in that case

Well, he's very active on the 'cut Polański some slack' thread ;) ;) Some just can't conceal their innermost agendas ;) ;)

I encourage people to try Frater by the main Poznań brewery (Kompania?). It's an affordable weissbier.

Gingers is just ginger beer with a little more alcohol

Not much different to lemon beer, which is just a shandy

and the truth be known... i love gingers... it goes down very easily

I like Tyskie but have gone off it as it is way too gassy. It gives me heartburn and is 'awkward' if I have one before classes as part of a pub lunch. Forgive me, I'm British and we sometimes do that kind of thing.

Considering the number of Polish beers that's on offer here, I would say Tyskie and Karpacki. The latter one because it's rather cheap over here (4 cans for 5 Euros, which is cheap for Dublin) and tastes surprisingly good.

Edit: I don't like Lech that much as it tastes too much like Heineken in my opinion.
Edit2: Tyskie is about 2 Euro per can/bottle over here. Lech is about the same.

M-G (my überbier however, remains Grolsch, because it's from my area in Holland)

Nearly. It's from about 20km outside Gdansk, a brewery called Amber Browar. The same people who make Zywe and Kozlak. If anybody hasn't tried either of those two beer: get out there and buy some now!

No there isn't. Your best bet is to buy British ale. You can certainly find it in Piotr i Pawel supermarkets and in Bomi and you can also find it in some of the larger Carrefours.

Absolutely Tyskie!

As we know well, there are many kinds of beer in Poland. I cannot explain what is difference amoung them and distinguish the taste, but Tyskie is suitable for me:-)
