HI ya"ll;
Allow me to introduce myself as I am new in here. My name is Franek. My parents immigrated to the USA in the early 1900. I was born in Baltimore Md. That would make me a second generation Polish American. I have resided in Florida for the past 30 yrs.I found this site while searching the web. It looks like an interesting site. I will try to add some posts of my own as time goes by. In the meantime, Has anybody heard this old Polish song before?

POGBNALA WOLKI

Poganala wolki na bukowine
Wziela ze swoba skrzpki jedyyne
I grala spiewaoloa
Swoje siwe,siwe wolki pasala

Pasala je,pasala,az pogubila
Coz ja nieszczesna bede robila
Wiec chodzi I placze
Juz ja swoje siwe wolki potrace

Uslyszal Jasio placz,narzekonie
Przylecial do niej na to plakonie
Dziewczyno, coz ci to
Pewnie twoje siwe wolki zabito

O gdybys moje wolki odnalazi
Dotabym ja buziaka zaraz
Oj zaraz, oj zaras
Siedemdzieiat siedem razy roz

Pielecial Jasio na bukowine
Odna lazi wolki,prosil dziewczyne
Dzeiewczyno,wolki masz
Obiecalas dac buziako,daj zaraz

As to the history of this particular folk song I’m not sure but it is performed by “Šl±sk” The Polish Song and Dance Ensemble vol. 1 song #6.

Hi Franek,

A big Ozi g'day and welcome to the grid! Perhaps post in "introductions" for further responses.

Hello Franek.
A Baltimore Pole?
Just like Stanislas Valchek on 'The Wire'.

Series 2 had lots to do with the Baltimore Polish community.
Damn good viewing!

Welcome from a Brit who's trying to learn Polish.

Welcome Franek.
People are generally nice here with some exceptions like the one above.
I recognize the song. I'm sure you can buy it in a polish music store, especially in Chicago or NY.
