Birth Certificate Translation

Hi all... I've posted a birth certificate in the Genealogy section of PF and there's some uncertainty about the translation of the names involved. Can I impose on you translation-philes to pop over and have a look for me? Январь- jan Февраль- feb 1918, son of Kostja Michalczyk (born in 1887), and mother Is...(Isina?) Biel born in 1888

written in Sliwic 1. 7 1944

On stamp: greco-catholic parochial office in Sliwnic

Look for town of Sliwnic/Śliwnic/Śliwnicz/Śliwnica etc. and check their records for such names and dates

Btw. Why the name of the mother is written with small letter? Maybe because it is not K because earlier we can see how "K" is lookin-like written by this father. IMHO it is Is..

pog.. is short form for born

You should ask Russian or Ukrainian nationals to see the document, it should be easier for them to recognise their language handwritting.

I am able to recognise some of the words but I'm not Russian nor Ukrainian.

You can find posters Sasha, Borrka, and Nathan2 as they read cyrillic well. PM them.

It's always a puzzle to me why the writers of these documents think it good to write as unclearly as possible! It's the same on UK certificates... steve
