My father in law purchased this program and offered it to me. It is supposed to translate from English to Polish and from Polish to English, but i am concerned with the accuracy. Would someone mind reading it over and checking to see if it makes sense?

Polish Version:
Drogi Wujek Stephan,

Chcemy zażyczyć tobie wesołych świąt! Jesteś zawsze w naszych myślach i mamy nadzieję , że robisz dobrze. Tęsknimy za tobą i mamy nadzieję , że będziemy do zobaczenia wkrótce. Przesyłanie serdeczności i myśli do ciebie dla Bożego Narodzenia.

English Version:
Dear Uncle Stephan,

We want to wish you a Merry Christmas! You are always in our thoughts and we hope that you are doing well. We miss you and hope that we will see you soon. Sending our love and thoughts to you for Christmas.

... for government work.

"że robisz dobrze"

That you're doing it right....

że będziemy do zobaczenia wkrótce

that we will soon goodbye!

"Przesyłanie serdeczności i myśli do ciebie dla Bożego Narodzenia"

basically grammatical nonsense.

That kind of program is best used to interpret things as it can do a good job of giving you some kind of idea what a text says (not very exactly and with some mistakes)

It's simply not designed for active translation (and shouldn't be marketed as such).

But not better than the Uncle Google translation. If such a small sample can be used for evaluation - this was a waste of money buying that program. Funny that both programs make the same literal translation errors, more of less in the sentences two and four.

Google:
Drodzy wujek Stefan,

Chcemy życzyć Wam Wesołych Świąt! Jesteś zawsze w naszych myślach i mamy nadzieję, że robisz dobrze. Tęsknimy za wami i nadzieję, że zobaczymy się wkrótce. Wysyłanie naszej miłości i myśli do Ciebie na Boże Narodzenie.

I was thinking it meant "we have" but but it seems not in this context.

Let's hope? Miemy? Mamy is ok, as here it just means 'we'.

I was not sure what you meant at first. Now I got it.
The sentence "Tęsknimy za wami i mamy nadzieję, że zobaczymy się wkrótce." can be also expressed like this: "Tęsknimy za wami i miejmy nadzieję, że zobaczymy się wkrótce."
So it is like "we have" vs. "let us hope".
Oops, edited and too late.

In addition to the corrections already suggested: if this is intended to be a written message, the words indicated above need to start with capital letters.

Miejmy, thanks grubas. I'd never seen it written before. Some Poles gibber at the rate of knots and I can't always catch words.

Nice. So I should just stick to what i can figure out and hope and pray they understand what I am trying to say. What a pain in the butt. Thank you everyone for your time in checking. Guess I will just stick to Merry Christmas.

Well, this is a section of the forum for short free translation (with people who are glad to help).

Repost your letter as a translation request (or make it clear that you'd like to request a translation of your letter) and you'll have something better very quickly.

I'd give it a start, but while I can go Polish to English I leave the English to Polish to the Polish native speakers.
