okay, ive been dating a polish girl for a couple of months now. and up till now, everytime i've wanted to do something cute for her. i'd copy and paste some polish poem which i had no clue what it said...i wanna do something more personal. if someone could translate this little love note i wrote into polish (because google translate fucks everything up, so i sound like im half retarted) it would be greaaaaatly apperciated

Is not bad, is it? :) :) Well, mistakes can be costly :( It was my nickname in Japan, Seanus Maximus. Coraz bardziej, yes. I also have to think before using więcej and bardziej.

You got me here, but I think that sometimes you may apply the "reversed" question tags, may you not? For example: a question "you are going to London this week, are you?" - will it not mean: "are you really going to London this week?"

I have a clue as to when you use "więcej" vs. "bardziej". Try to work it out yourself, however, as language problems you've worked out yourself tend to stick in your memory bardziej than those that you have not.

Occasionally you can change a common structure when you believe sb will say yes. For example, indefinite pronouns. Standard would be 'would you like anything to drink?' as an open question. However, when you expect the person to say yes more, you'd ask 'would you like something to drink?'.

Yeah, there are more complicated differences than bardziej i więcej.

Ziemowit: I have a clue as to when you use "więcej" vs. "bardziej". It's easy. 'Więcej' (dużo) is used with nouns, while 'bardziej' (bardzo) is used with verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Cinek

I know it's easy. The intention, however, was to elicit the response from the learner of Polish, that is from Seanus-Maximus, rather than from a native speaker like you.

Ziemowit, have you stopped learning Polish? I am still in the process of learning English too as I don't pretend to know every word I come across. Poles are still learning Polish too as I've taught them Polish words that they didn't know. You thought wrong, Zeti ;) MrBubbles, a one-off isn't as good as 4 times a week, now is it? ;) ;)

The more I know, the less I understand, right? Oh, many many. Pochlebstwo springs to mind but there have been many others. Oh, they didn't even know dodo (not Polish but has a Polish equivalent) Isn't it private language instructor that they say in Polish? Well, the Polish version I mean :)

"Dodo" is that newzealandisch [sorry for the German ending of the English adjective whose ending I don't know] extinct bird which couldn't fly? So they didn't know 'pochlebstwo'? Shame on them, it is disgusting, really. Przypochlebiają się swoim nauczycielom, a nie wiedzą co oznacza rzeczownik 'pochlebstwo" ...

I've checked tutor [wymawiaj tiutor] in the sjp dictionary of Polish... and they have it as a Polish word:
1. «pracownik uniwersytetu lub innej szkoły czuwający nad przebiegiem studiów studentów kształcących się w indywidualnym trybie»
2. daw. «prywatny nauczyciel lub korepetytor»
They even have the corresponding adjective
