What exactly "posiedzenia" means? 'protokół posiedzenia'

Can anyone please tell me what exactly posiedzenia means? I came across it as 'protokół posiedzenia', and I thought the whole concept = 'minutes of a meeting' , but it seems from the dictionary now that 'protokół' by itself is enough, and that posiedzenia is something secretive, or something like 'in camera'?

Amathyst, as I said, my Polish teacher is also Polish, from a very good language school in Warsaw. I didn't think I would get a confusing translation form her. I'm looking for the context, because 'informal conference' can mean many things. All I am looking for is confirmation and context. There isn't much to it, is there?

If they were there as the executive commitee, and the meeting was a statutory one where they have to keep a record it would be a posiedzenie. If they were just meeting to discuss something informally or less formally, it would be a spotkanie. Protokół means minutes.

"Nasiadowka" is an informal word and was in a wide use among teachers, at least those older. Means a long, formal and boring meeting to discuss a professional stuff.
Posiedzenie is formal, planned and has own well described structure. It is used in relation with politic.
Spotkanie is absolutely sth informal but Polish people tend to use it for sth formal avoiding "posiedzenie" because it remindes them of old times with KC PZPR.
Spotkanie can also be "nasiadowka" f.e. among friends and this time is more like a nickname for sth pleasant, relaxing...
