What would be the English equivalents of lekarz medycyny and doktor nauk medycznch?

This is a question in my field. :)

The correct forms are:

lekarz medycyny [lek. med.] = M.D.
doktor nauk (medycznych) [dr n. med.] = Ph.D. (in medicine)


Dr. hab. (doktor habilitowany) is more difficult to translate exactly. But it's similar to 'associate professor'.


Lek. med. means that you have graduated as M.D. (You are a physician.)
Dr n. med. means that you have a doctorate in medicine. (You don't have to be a physician. Even if most of them are.)
