Would this term in Polish be somethin akin to wholesome in English which would describe for insatnce a sweet, well-scrubbed, innocent young girl (as opposed to a dyed, heavily made-up tramp), or would the burak=redneck component make it pejorative and mean something like a hick or even trailer trash? The term is new to me so I'm invoking the 'Sprachgefühl' of native Polish speakers.

Would be interesting if you gave the context in which the term was used. Basically, it refers to a certain type of soil, but people may sometimes use it to describe "behaviours" or personalities.

I have heard it applied to people (dziewczyna pszenno-buraczana) and felt it could mean either natural, unspoilt, bucolic, idyllic, salt of the earth or conversely hickish, bumpkinish, uncouth, backward, etc. Maybe it was a one-off occurrence or somebody's pet expression rather than general slang?

I'd vote for that.
