If it was not your fault:

There is no rule that tells whether "przykro mi" or "przepraszam" is a better way of saying sorry when it's your fault.

If it was not your fault:

Przykro mi, ale nie jestem idealna.

That's a little far fetched.
Neither example implies the source of a problem or a person at fault. The context might, and either example could be used whether it's a speaker's fault or not.

Polish is complicated enough. No need to add unnecessary complications, especially if they are pulled of out.. wherever it is you pulled that one out of.
