Someone wants me to translate some of the following for them but it is tricky. I think they are all supposed to be words related to massages/baths and other therapies.

This is what I have so far [I think]

masaż wirowy - whirl massage

sauna irydowa - Dunno ?

sucha podczerwień - dry infrared

masaż perełkowy - ?

masaż ozonowy - ozone massage [I assume. Might be wrong]

kąpiel tężniowa - ?

mgła jonizowana - ?

jod brom - Iodine bromine [ I found this on the internet. It might be totally wrong]

odtruwańie - detoxication

kinezoterapia - kinesiatherapy

łóżko irydowe - What does irydowe mean?

masaż poczerwień - infrared massage

So these are the words. If there is anyone that has a clue about this type of stuff or reckons they can work some of it out I would be very grateful. Do not really want to let this person down who expexts me to be able to do this but despite being able to speak in Polish I have not actually heard of most of these names.

I'm sure he came up with that for himself. He wants accurate translations. Off topic!!

Do you mean that you are not a native speaker of Polish and you don't understand following terms, or you are a native speaker of Polish language but you can't think of adequate terms for translation?

If it is the fist case (you don't understand those terms in Polish) then:

perełka - a bead

tężnia - check pl wiki
[i]
jonizacja
- a ionisation, jonizowany - adj.

łóżko irydowe - What does irydowe mean?

He asked.

I don't get it, he speaks Polish and he knows how to use a dictionary, where is the problem? Why post the message in the first place? Can't he just read up about the topic?

Good point, cat. Many should do their own research first.

catsoldier it seems you fail to grasp what I am asking. I know what words mean on their own, such as kąpiel, sauna and mgła etc. However I do not know what a sauna irydowa or masaż perełkowy is. Despite a lot of discussion it seems noone has actually answered the question, an exact translation of what I have written above. I can assume what they mean but there might be exact terms for these in english. For example I assume that a masaż ozonowy is an ozone massage, but is there really such a massage or is it known as something else in english? This is why I asked if there is someone that knows about this stuff, could they reply.

Counting on a luck that by any chance this forum is read by a proffessional beautician or a beauty shop addict is really tiny... Maybe just read what those treatments are and then think if English equivalent.
I found for you what is about this iryd things. Iryd is radioactive element and is used in brachyterapia (to treat cancer... but maybe also something else).

Thank you plgrl. Yes I have taken a look at some of the descriptions in Polish but even though I can [sort of] work out what they are about I would still be making a name up for them. I was hoping there would be some people [girls perhaps, I know they like massages and baths] who would know this but none so far. Oh well, still time.

You should rename the thread title for English speaker needed to sort out alternative medicine terms. Mayby rybnik can help you.

Seriously though, I have researched the subject and there is suprisingly little information on some of these therapies on google.pl. In my understanding, sauna irydowa is like a dry sauna where you are being exposed to infrared. They claim it is good for your defence system and circulation. It has nothing to do with Irydium which can cause radioactive burnes and cancer :/. So it is basically Infrared Sauna.

As for tężnia (tężnia solankowa) I could suggest Inhalatorium. I've actually been to one and what it is is brine, or water with many good minerals such as calcium, sodium, magnesium, iron and iodine, being dispersed into thin mist while pouring down a fascine, a large wall of it. You are meant to inhale the mist and it replenishes those minerals in your body. So Kąpiel Tężniowa is like a shallow bath in that kind of water with the mist floating around or falling like rain. The water is very warm and the mist/rain is cool, it's weird but nice.

The "infra red sauna" lol, there is some slight, grasping basis in medical fact about that, only problem is though that a pair of red curtains over a window will have exactly the same theoretical effect :)
It was a medeivil treatment, one that for centuries was thought crackpot but which is now being tentetivly reassesed :)

Thanks to those who tried to make themselves useful. So this is what I am going for with the words I previously did not have yet. Let me know if it sounds about right [for anyone still interested].

masaż perełkowy - a bead massage or massage with beads perhaps

kąpiel tężniowa - inhalatorium [JustysiaS?]

jod brom - still not sure about this one

mgła jonizowana - ionized fog [seems a bit wrong]

łóżko irydowe - irydium bed

sauna irydowa - irydium sauna

I dunno some of them just do not sound right when translated.

For those who started to have a go at massages and the names for them, I am not in the business of doing this stuff so why do I get the impression you are having a go at me? I am just trying to do a favour for someone with these terms that I myself had not heard of before and even though I did have a look on the internet, I did not find much on there in the way of translations of the above therapies, with the exception of the whirl and infrared stuff. I just thought, I might as well try and stick them on this forum as there might be a person that is interested in this stuff and knows a lot about it.

łóżko irydowe - irydium bed
sauna irydowa - irydium sauna

they seem to mix up irydium with infrared, i really don't understand, you would have to speak to one of these so called beauticians to explain what the hell it is they are using in those treatments. i've seen no information on these anywhere apart from a brief mention on a couple of websites of salons that provide this on how fantastic these are but there seems to be no foundation in those claims.

kąpiel tężniowa - inhalatorium [JustysiaS?]
jod brom - still not sure about this one
mgła jonizowana - ionized fog

jod brom and mgła jonizowana are all a part of the Kąpiel Tężniowa, according to Polish Spa's websites. It is a Mineral Bath with salt, calcium, magnesium and iodine, bromine (and others) accompanied by ionised mist. I would translate this treatment as Mineral Bath with Ionised Mist

masaż perełkowy

Water Bubble Massage/Hydromassage - it's a bath in normal water with hydromassage where small bubbles of air are being released into the water and impacting the skin. it's for better circulation and weight loss

The "infra red sauna" lol, there is some slight, grasping basis in medical fact about that, only problem is though that a pair of red curtains over a window will have exactly the same theoretical effect :) It was a medeivil treatment, one that for centuries was thought crackpot but which is now being tentetivly reassesed :)

i would personally not spend a grosz on rubbish 'beauty treatments' like that but there are stupid women out there who do. put a technical/chemical name on it and they'll pay to have it done!

PS: something funny to read about Iryd for the Polish forum users ;) http://nonsensopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Iryd

Thank you Justysia for the assistance. I have passed them on. I would pay you if I could. Okay let's be honest no I wouldn't but I am grateful.
