Translation help: Old document - One word

Hi I would like to know what is written here under mu grandfather's profession and what it means.

I can only make 4 last letters -larz. It's hard to say if the first letter is S or F or any other...

kanalarz, malarz, handlarz, stolarz - none of these fits. Maybe other poeople will be able to think more profession names. Maybe you are able to read the first letter based on other handwritten fields?

I think it's "Kanalarz" but im not sure

My guess is "handlarz", a merchant. The "d" character is kind of thin though, so it is hard to recognize it on first sight. Fortunately, we have the French corresponding word "marchand" - in the line below. Notice that the old fashioned "z" from the word "handlarz" interferes with the last two letters "n d" in the "marchand" word - giving the impression of an extra letter between "n" and "d".
