"Kiedy za pomocą swojego prototypu przedostałem się tutaj, nawet mi się nie śniło, że te stwory mnie wykorzystają."?

I am especially confused by the first part of the sentence.

Dzięki!

Raffael

It looks odd indeed, Raf

Maybe it should be z pomocą (with help)? Za means for and behind usually. When I got the help of your prototype here, I wasn't even dreaming, that they were using me/used me or my creation??

I don't get it. I'm not Polish but it looks 'iffy' to me.

Nope. Za pomocą is also correct and fits here better.

Aha, ok. I'm not really back into thinking in Polish yet. I'm just not familiar with that structure tbh.

When I managed to get here with the help (useing for that) my prototype, I never thought that those creatures will use me.

"When using your prototype he got here, even I never dreamed that these creatures will use me."?

Hmmm... according to PONS "za pomocą" means "with the help of".

I think I cracked it "When I got here by means of my prototype I never dreamed that those monsters would use me."

That should do it ... I mean it's not rocket sience ... it's Kaczor Donald ;-)

Wow, I'm laying off the translations for a while. I was miles off. Don't confuse za with z, Raf.

now, don't be so upset, Seanus. "Za pomocą" may mean the same as "z pomocą" or even "przy pomocy". Still, they're not completely interchangeable.

And now you might be able to better appreciate the efforts of your students striving to master English phrasal verbs ;)

strzyga:
"z pomocą"

z pomocą przyjaciół
za pomocą śrubokręta.

Z pomocą śrubokręta brzmi "koślawo", nie uważasz?

rather idiomatic experssions ;)

yes, basically it's: z pomocą - of a person, za pomocą - of an object, przy pomocy - can be either.

zetigrek:
rather idiomatic experssions ;)

oh but they're mostly the same - I mean most English idioms contain some phrasal verb or other
