I wonder if anyone can help translast my Grandpa's obituary. It was recently found among my Uncle's papers after he died. I'm assuming this was in a Polish newspaper published in Michigan. I would really appreciate any help you may give. Thank you. The obit reads as follows:

It is with sadness that we would like to inform all family and friends that our dearest husband and father, S.P. W. K, passed away after a long and severe illness, given his Last Rites on June 2, 1927, at the age of 58. The deceased belonged to the St. Antoni Paderewski Society 169 in the Unia Polska (Polish Union) and to the Society of the Holiest Heart Of Jesus and Mary, as well as to the Roman-Catholic Union in Wilkes Barre, PA. Late Wincenty Koncewicz was born in Poland, in village Jablonskie, parish Janowka. The funeral is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 1927, at 9am at the Funeral Home at "pn. 4926-35=taul", at St. Francis Church, heading to the Holy Cross Cemetary. All friends and family are invited to this solemn event by family in deep sorrow: wife Ewa; sons Piotr, Stanislaw, Jan and Konstanty; daughter Janina Kapuscinska; son-in-law Franciszek Kapuscinki; brother Franciszek Koncewich; sister Jozefa Mieczkowska from Pennsylvania. (the funeral is organized by L. J. Jarzembowski, 44005 Wesson.)

You know it's a scam, if you donate some, she will get maybe only 1/100Oth of the money you give right? If you really wanna help her you would have to adopt her. i know it may seem rather harsh but that's the reality of the situation.

Not true. Besides, if it was true then 1/1000 of what we will give is more than what she has now.

To make this cheapskate speech here on PF when we've been trying so hard to collect funds for a better bathroom or for new shoes for a girl who lost several toes is unbecoming you.

Use whatever excuse you want not to give, it's your choice and perfectly ok.

However don't spoil it for the rest of us who want to help! We will help her and no, this is not a scam.

Brutally honest

You're just paying people that learned how to exploit the situation. Who do you think is advertising her misery? If you want to do something good, go meet her and put the shoes you bought on her feet yourself. Stop being so self-righteous about it, anyway. How much money did you donate? why don't you send me 1000 bucks, and I'll promise to give her a dollar...

the honest truth

they collected $350 and a teddy bear... My wife gives more to a cat shelter in a year. Please be logical about this.

She will have them delivered personally. You obviously don't want to be a part of the project and that's fine.

I can't take your advice because that's not how I was raised nor is it who I am. I too am a realist, absolutely. I am fiscally conservative in my personal life and in my political leanings BUT I also have compassion for other people's plight. I can't change the world, neither can you. ...but I can make it just a tad more tolerable for some people very little at a time. That alone is worth the effort...

I see you're a passionate person but you come off as extremely naive. if donating money makes you feel better than it's money well spent. Good bless you. and i mean it.

Thank you (for the last part :) and this is nothing new for me or for my family. Part of it is just my personal "right-thing-to-do" beliefs, part of it is my Christian (Lutheran) faith which I usually keep to myself (except now so I can explain).

We (as a family) always helped others one way or the other, don't think it's so much about "feeling better" but rather about doing what is right (in our view). It's the tiny, seemingly minor acts that matter. Again, totally voluntary, I hate when people make others feel bad for not chipping in but at the same token I don't like when people try to talk others out of helping out. That's why I spoke up earlier. That's it in a nutshell and I'll end at that.

As I said earlier, good translation! Over & Out :)
