Hi there! I am a vocalist and I am in a group that sings music from all over the world. We sing in 20 or so different languages! I am a new member in this group, and it is customary for new members to bring in a new song. I am half Polish and half Latino and we are already have a whole bunch of songs in Spanish, so I thought it would be cool to try a song in Polish. I have done a bit of research and found this beautiful song called, Laura i Filon. There are a couple others that I am considering, but this one really stuck out to me because of the beautiful melody. However, I can't find any information about it online, nor a translation for the words. Alas, I turn to you all... the Polish Forum. Any information on this song is greatly appreciated!

The lyrics are:

Już miesiąc zeszedł, psy się uśpiły,
I coś tam klaszcze za borem.
Pewnie mnie czeka mój Filon miły
Pod umówionym jaworem.

Nie będę sobie warkocz trefiła,
Tylko włos zwiążę splątany;
Bobym się bardziej jeszcze spóźniła,
A mój tam tęskni kochany.

Prowadź mię teraz, miłości śmiała!
Gdybyś mi skrzydła przypięła!
Żebym najprędzej bór przeleciała,
Potem Filona ścisnęła!

Thank you! :)

Heres one I wrote:

The sound of Silence deafening me
As i stood alone and pondered
Reflecting on the loss i felt
A chance of happiness squandered
How could i have been so blind
How was it i could not see
The pain etched across your face,
Your suffering, inflicted by me

My heart beats slower than a week ago
The sense of loss, the pain still raw
The image still carved into my mind
Of watching you turn and close the door

The words reverberate around my head
How I wish they’d remained unsaid
For those words had no right to life
Their utterance wounding like a knife
And as those words came to be
The hurt inflicted plain to see
Such malice should ne’er been spoken
Such sorrow should ne’er been woken

My heart beats slower than a week ago
The sense of loss, the pain still raw
The image still carved into my mind
Of watching you turn and close the door

How I yearn to turn back the sands
And take you once more into my hands
My thoughtless actions, my selfishness
Eroded away a love so strong
Replaced with heartache and pain
Our hopes and dreams, now gone
And as each solitary second passes
I struggle to comprehend
That our tomorrows are gone forever
And that this could be the end

My heart beats slower than a week ago
The sense of loss, the pain still raw
The image still carved into my mind
Of watching you turn and close the door

Laura and Filon is a poem by Franciszek Karpiński, the Enlightenment period poet.
There is a chance you can find an English or even a Spanish translation.
The peom in original version is much longer and tells what happened next, devided on two parts: Laura's perspective and Filon's perspective and diologue between them. These are the only 3 beginning verses.

He was asking about informations on this particular poem, not your own inventions. He could think that's the translation, which is not.

Chill out grumpy!!

Get out the wrong side of the bed this morning did you????

If he copies and pastes the original song into google translate he would quite quickly determine for himself that my "invention" isn't a translation.

Now.....

Invention: a. The action of inventing something, typically a process or device.
Composition: a. The art or act of composing a musical or literary work.
b. A work of music, literature, or art, or its structure or organisation.

@Wengelewski

Yes Gumishu, for the most part I do, Im a bit of an amature student of the AK ,there were so many haunting or stirring songs written in almost unbearable circumstances connected to the occupations but this is one that sticks in my mind as being at heart about the most important and indestructable of human emotions, love.

Thank you! I couldn't find anything about it, and I don't speak or read Polish (although I have always wanted to learn). I just don't know where I can find any of this info. I saw that the original is WAY long. I am just going from the recorded version that I had.

youtube.com/watch?v=b4ZKSfW1k60 <------- here is the version that I found, and really like. They only sing the first 3 verses.

Thank you for your help :)

Już miesiąc zeszedł, psy się uśpiły, -
I coś tam klaszcze za borem. -
Pewnie mnie czeka mój Filon miły -
Pod umówionym jaworem. -

Nie będę sobie warkocz trefiła, - I won't comb my plait
Tylko włos zwiążę splątany; - I'll only
Bobym się bardziej jeszcze spóźniła, - Because I could
A mój tam tęskni kochany. - And there there's my darling missing me.

Prowadź mię teraz, miłości śmiała! - Lead me now, brave love
Gdybyś mi skrzydła przypięła! - If only you could
Żebym najprędzej bór przeleciała,
Potem Filona ścisnęła!

Już miesiąc zeszedł, psy się uśpiły, - The moon set and the dogs went asleep
I coś tam klaszcze za borem. - And there's something making noise beneath the forest
Pewnie mnie czeka mój Filon miły - Probably my dear Filon is expecting me
Pod umówionym jaworem. - Under the jawor tree where we were to meet.

Nie będę sobie warkocz trefiła, - I won't comb my plait
Tylko włos zwiążę splątany; - I'll only tie my hair
Bobym się bardziej jeszcze spóźniła, - Because I could be more late
A mój tam tęskni kochany. - And there's my darling missing me there.

Prowadź mię teraz, miłości śmiała! - Lead me now, brave love
Gdybyś mi skrzydła przypięła! - If only you could attach me wings
Żebym najprędzej bór przeleciała, - I would fly through the forest as fast as I could
Potem Filona ścisnęła! - Then I would hug my Filon

My English isn't perfect but I did my best. Good luck with your band and hugs from Warsaw(Warszawa). Learn Polish and come to Poland, we're expecting you!
