Translation of the word " Memories"

Hello---

I am looking to get a tattoo to remember all of my family that has passed. My grandmother was the last one that could speak Polish.

Could anyone give me the correct word, and spelling for:

always remembered

memories

remembering

which ever you think is most appropriate.

Thanks Much.

This means a lot to me, and I dont want to just trust some random thing I find on the internet.

I will have this on my body for ever.

I'm sure someone here will give you the proper translation promptly but if you truly want to honor your grandmother and your other relatives of Polish ancestry - pick up some Polish instead. It's never too late to learn a language and what you put in your mind/heart means more than what you wear on your skin.

Just my penny on the subject.

I'm not a native speaker but I would go with: pamiętam which means "I remember". And second the 'learn some Polish' suggestion. It's a marvelously, rich and ridiculously difficult language but your effort will be rewarded.

wspomnienia = memories Example: "Wspomnienia lat wojny" = memories of the war years pamięć = memory, i.e. by memorizing or committing to memory, learning to remember by heart or rote. Example "Uczyłem się słówek na pamięć." = I learned the (vocabulary) words by heart. pamiętnik = diary, lit. "memory book"

Thank you everyone for giving me things to work with. And Your all right about the learning Polish thing. I will have to work on that, however until then, tattoos are my thing! I will start there.. and she what I can do about learning.

I always listened to my grandmother.. and when she was speaking in Polish, I knew she was talking about me! I picked up a bit, can listen and pick out some words, but thats as far as I got.

skysoulmate: I thought "mej" was a slang term It's more (simultaneously) archaic/rustic and poetic. For modern formal usage Polish prefers the full forms but the abbreviations can be used for a poetic or earthy flavor. I still like PAMIĘTAM (I remember) the best, probably in all caps. It seems more Polish (to me) than more literal approaches.
