"Vulnerability is true love" - A Phrase about Love

Hi Guys,

I am starting to learn polish inspired by my polish gf and there is something I desperately want to express to hear in words. The problem is I only now the english and would love to get a good translation.

I would like to say something like.

"Vulnerability is true love"

Prawdziwa miłość oznacza ekspozycja i kruchość.

this is hard to translate and there may be a better saying in polish that means the same but is better then a direct translation.

Sean, I totally understand your expression, at least I think I do.
My Polish is pretty limited and at a kid's level when I talk but often when I can't translate things verbatim I still get the gist of it. ...and sometimes I don't... lol


In English I'd personally express your sentiment by saying:

-> To unconditionally surrender one's heart is to know true love

and in Polish I'd say:

-> Ten kto poddaje swoje serce bezwarunkowo rozumie (prawdziwą) miłość

Don't know if it sounds right or wrong but I hope she'd understand and that it would "feel" right to her.


Cherish your feelings, it's an incredible experience.

sky, your polski isn't as bad as you seem to think.. sure better then what i came up with. lol

Thanks, sometimes it works and sometimes it's more like huh? lol

Writing is definitelly easier for me than talking and if I was to rank expressing emotions English would be the easiest followed by Swedish and then Polish. Working on my Polish but unfortunatelly I don't speak any Venusian at all - the only language I really need. :)

@ sky, the sentiment is hard to explain but it is coming from the place of saying the risk I take to revel my vulnerabilities and be honest with you, means I believe have found true love.

then i should have posted what i was going to post originally:
Prawdziwa miłość to podatność na zranienie
which means, real love is the willingness to open oneself to possibility of getting hurt. (vulnerability)

Yeah, I love looking at the stars, have a good viewing platform. :)
Keep looking for that place they're supposedly from but they're scrambling our signals pretty well. Still lookin'. LOL

If I'm understanding what you wanna say with that, I mean, the feeling you wanna tell her, I could propose another possible translation, although the ones which people have said here are so good and, as you said, express exactly this feeling

Żeby zrozumieć prawdziwa miłość trzeba wszystko poddać

This is like: To understand the true love you've to give everything. I think it could be a good translation, as well.

And keep going with your polish, learn a complicated thing for a girl is the most beautiful thing you can do to prove her your love for her (and a language even more I guess). In fact I've done it too :)
