A wholesome meal is zdrowy posiłek but what about a wholesome-looking girl? Zdrowo wyglądająca dziewczyna does not convey the sense of wholesome in that particular context? What does?

Porządna dziewczyna isn't quite there either - too emphatic - but close.

You could just say she is zdrowa/healthy.

Zdrowa could mean she passed a medical with flying colours (no herpes, uterine infection, etc.), but doesn't wholesome have a broader context branching out into the cultural, psychological and even ethical spheres?

I've noticed that Polish often doesn't have one word to describe a nuance though, in fairness, it works both ways. Poles tend to describe more.

For example, draughty. They have przeciąg for draught but no real adjective for draughty.

I don't know the exact meaning of the 'wholesome-looking girl' (and haven't got my "Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English" pod ręką), but I suspect that a perfect Polish equivalent of the term would be "czerstwa". This term is mainly used when refering to healthy-looking older people or to 'out-of-date' bread, but using it in reference to a dziewczyna (especially a country girl) is OK. To younger people it may seem old-fashioned, however.

If somebody called me "czerstwa dziewczyna" I'd feel like slapping them in the face. For me the slang use of "czerstwa/czerstwy" is to denote sth boring and generally not cool :)

As to wholesome-looking girl - I guess that "zdrowo wyglądająca dziewczyna" would actually sound fine. "Ona zdrowo wygląda" sounds perfectly natural, although maybe somewhat jocular, to describe a good-looking girl.

Hey there amigo :) Nah, draughty in British English means when the wind whistles through your flat to the other side if a window is open.

As I said, to young people the word "czerstwy" in this context may seem old-fashioned. You say that it has yet another meaning in the slang use. That's it, every language evolves!

Still, the PWN online dictionary will tell you:
czerstwy
1. «o pieczywie: suchy, nieświeży»
2. «zdrowy, krzepki»

So, another term to use for a 'wholesome-looking girl' may be 'krzepka dziewczyna'?

It does sound old-fashioned, but at least it doesn't bring about the misunderstanding that "czerstwa" could cause in all likelihood :)

A girl called krezpka sounds like some two-fisted feminist who changes tyres at the Greyhound Bus station!

I must concede that the femi-fascists spend most of theirr time devising male-bashing schemes and slogans under the guise of 'equality'. And that is better done at a café or lounge. If they were really for equaltiy they would make sure abortions could be performed as per local law only with the writtten consent of the father and also would demand parity in the dustmen's profession, not just in parliament and executive posts.

And remember the demand to be included in compulsory military service... and getting rid of evil segregated sporting events (olympics and the world cup come to mind...)

I knew you would bite, go and fight for your rights. I was not aware that there is parity in US government.

I though women were allowed into the US army, no?
