Probably it comes from "konopie" - hemp
It's a plant used for making ropes etc.

Which itself comes from Latin Cannabis (hehee), Greek kannabis, probably related to Sanscrit Canas.

"Konopat"

"Kono" - horse-related in many Slavic languages and "pat" - position in chessgame when a king is not checked, but has nowhere to move. So, to sum up: a person who is able to put another one in a tough spot by making a tricky chess-horse move, but still let that person live and breathe.

he he, Latin or/and antic Greek languages were influenced by Proto Slavic language and dialectics and not the opposite.

Good that you mentioned Sanskrit. Slavic languages are closest to Sanskrit. Sanskrit is eventually remain of to tell that way, Asian version of some ancient Proto Slavic dialect

and please, don`t BS to me. i am Serbian. We Serbs don`t buy that crap of history invented by so called west. THEY are West only because have money. Only because of that. Nothing else Western in THEM. You know, even that with money could be changed and money flow could be easily redirected, returned to Slavic world- to original native European civilization.

You know what happened to true West, that ancient original West? look at Poland, Ukraine, Serbia, etc Slavic countries. But we coming back!
